** OFFICIAL REVIEW: MITSUBISHI MMT Iron Shafts ***** FINAL REVIEW Post #2 is UP

Recommended Posts

30 years old with Arthritis already forming in a few knuckles. Currently gaming X7's in my Miura's with a 6 iron SS usually hovering around 105mph. Really thinking about moving to MMT 125 TX in my irons and wedges to save my joints the most I can. Not wanting to have to hang up the clubs young due to hands no longer working properly.

I wouldn't be back from my injury without them. I swung a steel wedge just for shiggles the other day and wow, it's a reminder how well these MMTs work.

No steel ever again. It isn't worth it.

I am in the same boat.  All the more motivation to stick with my current irons.  Would cost a fortune to rebuild a set with the MMT haha.

Coming from Dynamic Gold 120 S400 and thinking of doing MMT 105TX as Callaway is offering that shaft at no upcharge on Apex TCB irons. What are everyone's thoughts? I think the weight is pretty similar, I have 112-115 Driver SS. Thanks

Very similar to me. I went from 134g "full on" S400 to 105tx - which are actually 113 anyhow. You'll notice even less change, but if it's possible you might want to try the 105S before ordering. Won't matter much, but may as well find perfect. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am thinking I know the answer to this question, but I’ve only swung 60/70 MMT wood shafts. Pxg offers those 80g MMT stiff as a no upcharge shaft (vs the steelfiber 115 i was “fit” for)...have to take a second mortgage out for those 105tx lol.

Would I hit those a mile high or would I be able to handle them with a good smooth swing? I’m about ~105mph driver, smooth irons swing.

Thanks. Do you feel like there is a big difference in the S and TX? I'm interested in tightening up my dispersion and thought these shafts might be a big help in that area.

Finished a full busy season last year with new DG120 S400. Blew out both elbows. First time ever with elbow problems.

Next set will be graphite.

Is there a difference? In feel, that'll be up to you. I don't have enough data to conclude anything about the stiff, but I find my tx dispersion better than steel, slightly. That may be a personal bias, but I'm confident there's not any loss.

Can't speak to whether S is a wider dispersion than TX, but one would assume very little difference. If you're in it for feel, there's nothing bad about going to S. I soft-stepped my set.

In true WRX fashion, I just bought MMT 125TX 4-PW and 125TX wedge shafts for my 50,54,58. Should have next week and will build up. Took about 100 swings yesterday with my gamers (X7's) and could barely use my hands this morning from the soreness/stiffness. Praying these mitigate that!

Hope you'll feel as great of a difference as myself and many more with me! 😄

Had 2 weeks of pain from 40min on the range-mats hitting 6 irons last summer, since switching to graphite (Fuji Pro 115 tx & MMT 105TX) I haven't felt much at all. Last 1h simulator session I could feel a tiny tiny bit but then I also took a few swings with my old steel-shaft blades for comparison 🙂

I've had extensive injuries to my hands and wrists.  I'm talking broken metacarpal bones and tendinitis in my left wrist and still have some residual pain every now and then especially after playing or practicing a lot.  Ever since the switch to the MMT, I experience fewer days of this.  There is significantly less harshness and vibration from the MMT.  After I let my brother try my irons, he went to fitting and picked up a set of MMT 105S and he absolutely loves them.  I think you will be more than happy with the switch.

Was able to get mine cut and gripped this morning. Will take them for a spin this afternoon when I get home from work. I'll be sure to provide some feedback. I typically swing 5 days a week, so hoping these really reduce the soreness and pain I get.

Well after about the 3rd swing you could probably see my smile half way across the country. Unreal how much easier these are to swing vs the X7’s. Big hook miss is gone, dispersion is tighter, launching and spinning right where I want it and my clubhead speed is higher. And on top of all of that, no vibrations!!! So glad I went down this rabbit hole. Hit from 4 iron to 58 and every club felt just like butter. Those shafts mixed with my miuras are an unreal feeling. 10/10 will recommend to anyone.

Welcome Mac, to the dark side . . .

In all seriousness, it took me about as long as you to realize how good these shafts are for me, especially with the wedges. They are just unbelievably accurate and smooth.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

You don’t find anything being left on the table coming from x7? I’m in x7 and occasionally I’ll get a sore wrist or hand if it’s cold when I play but typically I am fine. But this is a comparison I’m very interested in maybe going down this rabbit hole.

I feel like I left stuff on the table with X7’s now that I’ve switched. Felt like I had to really go after it with the X7’s to get the same performance. Felt like I was cruising at about 90% if my normal swing and was getting faster ball/ club head speeds  than normal. Found my club to be about 3mph faster per club. Exactly game yardage as I was getting on my X7’s. 4 iron swing speed for reference used to be 107-108. Was cruising at 110-111 yesterday.

First morning in a long time I’ve woken up with no hand/wrist/elbow pain and this is just after day one. Looking forward to how I feel in a few weeks after any potential ache or pain has left.

Okay team great thread and thank you everyone for participating.  Great knowledge in here.

Since I can't seem to find the EI profiles for these shafts yet would this be the proper summary?

105tx and above are high bend point profile shaft similar to x100.

85, 95 and 105(stiff not tx) taper tip are mid bend point profile shafts similar to modus 120.

90 parallel tip and below are low bend point profile shafts similar to XP 95.

Is this a reasonable summary?
