Any info on the Scotty Cameron Select 2020 line?

You know he’s always going to do something “attention getting” in that back cavity. I’m with you, I’d love to see Titleist script or something equally simple, but that’s not what we are going to get for the foreseeable future. The last few lines have been similar with the silver around the red dot. Sounds to me like this will be the opposite.

Just engrave CAMERON in the back cavity and be done with it. The cherry bombs are played out.

Agreed but this would be what his 009 models are and that would hurt his high end market. I literally just walked downstairs to check out my handful of Cameron’s and compare retail to high end models. The old mil spec is (to my eye) identical to my 009M. The T22 is pretty much the same as my Studio Select NP2. Would be awesome if his retail offerings would be like that again, but remember these small visual differences make no difference to playability. The inserts are the real line in the sand, I cannot understand why he moved to aluminum on steel. If he gets the milling right the branding and badging could still possibly ruin it, but it would be mostly right.

Faux buttons, no way. Just doesn’t make sense. Do any other SC putters have faux parts? I can’t think of any (other than metal shaft bands...)

Are inserts definitely out? Maybe further refinement with a more traditional size steel insert secured by screws? Like the actual button back or the older GSS insert but with buttons. Could be interesting.

This, I know that it differentiates between the high end models and the retail versions but who cares. The business is supported from mass market retail sales not the pros or the one off customs he sells.

Based on Flowback and .5 I picture a 2020 version of Select Roundback. Picture Toulon Memphis or Odyssey V-Line. This is totally a guess and a hopeful one at that.

I thought about that but hasn't the Select line always been blade and mid-mallets with the Golo and Futura lines being the larger mallets? Golo 7 is always what I equate the v-line and Memphis to. Not disagreeing with you because I'd be 100% on favor of it, just thinking out loud.

 

Edit: I just looked back and completely forgot the Roundback was part of the Select line, so it has happened before.

Between Roundback, Golo, and now potentially the Flowback, (I realize they are different models), but I wish some of them would last throughout multiple years / cycles. So that we could build up some connection with the line. This started to happen for me with Golo, but then that disappeared.

Agree with this, it seems like we can never count on a model staying around. Hard to find certain retail models in any reasonable shape even.

so the buttons in back have no allen notches, they are just are just flat metal, maybe glued in. Still not sure the purpose

I'm sure they are are not added after but rather part of the milling process. Knowing how Scotty markets he’ll probably say the improve sound. Just a WAG.

That was what I thought too...like when they went from a flat milled bomb to the polished lip on the 2012 selects.

Or these are a partnership with and to be sold exclusively at Target...so he added the bullseye logo back there. At least I can tell my wife I'll get 5% off when I use our Red Card.

Not too add fuel, but someone mentioned the name Special Select. could there be a solid mill option, and then a option similar to a buttonback with the screws we are seeing. Just speculation?

No dampening just purely aesthetic. 3 milled cherry dots maybe even double milled with the flat metal nub like said earlier
