Just read an article on the composite course and how it’s yardage is defenseless against the distances these guys hit the ball. They will need wind and some nasty pins. I got an example of the farse golf at the highest level is now. One of my regular group’s players only winters here and just started playing again with us. He is 69 and moved up a tee from last year due to age , not distance, he hits it as long or longer than me. (250 avg). So he played the course at 5900 yards last week and had 8 birdies and 3 bogies to break his age by 2. The course is rated 68.0 for that yardage par 72. He likely never had more tha 8 iron into any par 4 and all the par 5’s were reachable in 2 with a good drive. This is the modern game for the men. Unless the wind blows the RM has no chance.

RM is short by modern standards but the bunkering and green shapes will still test players, also the weather in Melbourne will play a huge factor. Melbournes weather is always changing with heat waves followed by strong southerly storms very common this time of year

Leishman/Niemann vs. Thomas/Woods - US Win (Tiger & JT will be trying to beat one another and Leish and Nieman will be left in their wake.)

Hadwin/Im vs. Schauffele/Cantlay - US Win (Still amazes me that Hadwin made the Int team. Xander and Cantlay will be relentless, easy win.)

Scott/An vs. DeChambeau/Finau - International Win (Scotty with the home support and An playing well will mean that BDC can’t deal with the pressure.)

Matsuyama/Pan vs. Simpson/Reed - US Win (Reed will come out the gates hot but Simpson will grind down the internationals.)

Ancer/Oosthuizen vs. Johnson/Woodland - A/S (Louis vs Woodland - DJ hasn’t played and Ancer has been pretty anonymous.)

Yes, Earl Woods certainly spent time in Asia....
