Stand Bags...how often do you replace yours?

While this is probably a stupid question, but how often to you replace yours? I have had the same one for at least 5 years, probably longer. I have an old Sun Mountain 3.5 dlx (5 pockets, 1 velour valuables pouch, water bottle holder). Personally I think that it is fine (could use a nice cleaning) but the bridal unit is chomping for something to buy me for Xmas. My old standby is balls and gloves but she isnt "feeling" that. So i really dont know what to tell her.

Has bag technology made a big leap or is it just throwing $$ away?

I wouldn’t get rid of that bag, unless your tired of it and just want a change.

To me a bag is a bag is a bag. Would I like something cooler, newer? Sure, but it's not something that is blowing my hair back. LOL.

Feel ya! . What about something like a new set of head covers? Rose and Fire...heard those are really high quality and you can get just about whatever you would like.

All set there too. The kids got me an Arnie Stitch driver cover, I have a pinehurst cover for my fw, sunfish for my hybrids and stitch for my other 2 putters. I DID however buy a Sugar Skull Golf putter cover and gave that to her to wrap...lol. I'm the worst to buy for. If I want it, I usually just buy it. Ugh. lol

I have a Sun Mountain XTreme SLX that is over 10 years old. No need to change until it falls apart; however something new for Christmas would be nice.

before this year I had the same bag for 10 years. A bag is a bag like you said. This year I bought a Sun Mountain C-130 and do like it a lot. it was a huge upgrade but of course not the same excitement as clubs!!

 

My opinion is this.....If buying a bag for yourself is something you personally dont want to do, then let your wife buy it for you that way she feels satisfied buying you something and in return you get a new bag.

Ha! No I only have 1 set I just like to change it up. Have a ‘19 Camo Hoofer, a Jones Utility Trouper and a Jones Heather Players. I like the “boutique ness” of the Jones but the Hoofer is hard to beat from a function stand point.

Ping bags will last decades. I usually just switch when I find something I like better, could be a year or many more. Had my ping one for like 5 years because nothing came out better and I mean it looks pretty new still because its a dark color that doesn't show stains but that will change in Feb.

Just sent her a list, the usual: Prov's (i dont even care which one), tees (the little guys), cart mitts (that will probably NEVER get used), aiming sticks (currently using the ones from Home Depot) and the Sun Mountain Three 5 LS in Red white and blue. Dicks has them on sale for $150.

Basically all she has to do is open her email, click on the links, add to cart and done...LOL

I have a Titleist bag that is seven years old. Can’t recall the model, but same size as current 4 or 4.5 .

Made by Sun Mountain, and is Tennessee orange.

I’d like something new, but can’t find one I really like the look of.

probably pick up the new Titleist in black, or a new 4.5 Sun Mountain in black or navy blue.

Update...the bridal unit got me a Sun Mountain 3.5 LS. While it was the one I asked for, it wasnt the right size. I have that 3.5 DLX and that is MUCH bigger than the 3.5 LS. Needless to say, the LS went back. Its crazy how we are creatures of habit. I am going to try to give the current bag a good washing and go from there. I do like the 4.5 LS and might explore that.

Typically only change bags when something like a strap or leg breaks. Don't think a whole lot has changed except some bags have gotten considerably lighter

I love the look of the new Ping bags. Thinking of getting lightweight one to replace my current Ogio bag that is a tank. It also annoys me most rounds as I'll pull a club out then a bunch material will pull out with it along with some weird straps that I dont even know what they do.

I'm thinking that Moonlight bag will be a good replacement.

Unless they changed the design of the Ping bags (and they very well might have) I heard that grips get super tangled in there.

Again, I could be wrong, but my buddy has a fairly new hoofer and it seems if we walk (or ride), it looks like he's having some type of fit when he tries to get clubs in or out. From what I gather, the divider cloth (4 way divider) doesnt go all the way to the bottom of the bag.

I've only replaced bags when they break or are worn out to the point it cannot be reasonably repaired and the wear/breakage affects function.

I.e. not very often.

I like to replace mine every 2-3 years. thinking about getting a vessel one next... thoughts?
