I was at a fitter's facility this past weekend (wife was getting fitted for a putter), and he showed me an entire fitting cabinet of Mavrik's and said he can talk to customers about it, but can't advertise it in his newsletters, email blasts, or facebook until the official release (next week or after?) by Callaway.That being said, I would like to see a head-to-head comparison of Epic Flash vs Mavrik.

How can you be sure though just based on shape? It was always my understanding anyway that getting higher MOI was more about having the weight out wide and back, and necesarrily low. Plus, not every player needs an ultra low CoG (like players who always hover with strike higher in the face).

Rick Sheils has a review out comparing the Flash with the Mavrik..... no difference besides sound.

To me it was funny how indoors he got almost identical numbers to the EF, but outdoors the ball speed was a bit down on the Mavrik..Well usually a weight low and back helps resist twisting, we can see the philosophy on almost all the other manufacturers 2020 drivers, Ping G410, Cobra Speedzone, Taylormade SIM. Also in the Mavrik Max. I guess MyGolfSpy will finally tell us in the CG & MOI 2020 report.

Mav pro hybrid has an interesting shape, was hoping for a more Xhot2 pro shape and this looks a little more mini fairway-ish to it.

not a industry guy but from what I've seen, the low vs high aspect of cg is more about launch, not forgiveness necessarily.

 

Also note how MOI is seemingly only effected along the horizontal axis (front to back). I'm not saying there isn't some small influences by having it low vs high, but overall it probably contributes negligible amounts relative to other factors.

These MAVRIK drivers are HOTTT. Gained 4 mph BS over my Epic Flash SZ yesterday in head to head with my same shaft. First time I've ever seen 175BS... PGA SS monitors don't record SS so not sure if the gains were due to SS increase or hotter face but it was consistently higher BS than the EF SZ. Sound is much improved and lower spinning as well.

So are we of the opinion that the Aldila Rogue White 130 MSI that is being offered as a stock shaft is a made for offering? No way can Callaway be offering a $400 retail shaft for nothing.

Just watched the Shiels video and was surprised at how unforgiving the SZ appeared to be. After the XR series, the SZ models were relatively easy to hit (for me). Doesn’t seem to be the case with the Mavrik.

II know I saw that.... Just seems so hard to believe that they would be offering that as a no up-charge shaft. We have been conditioned to believe that anything offered at retail is a lesser shaft. Wonder what the reasoning is for that with this shaft.

Read on another site that Aldila is using this partnership in a hope to improve market share. Makes sense, and already they have been getting a lot of buzz from this.

When they first ran the deal for the Epic years ago it was trade in as much as you want. I had heard in later years there was a 3 club limit, or that it was category to category (no trading a set of irons +50% for a driver) but I haven't seen anything on it yet. My guess is it won't be unlimited like the Epic.

Bad news: the sole looks nasty. Good news, you don’t see the sole at address. Best news: this is a really good driver. Tested it today and got great numbers. It performed significantly better for me than the SIM (not trying to bash TM, they make excellent drivers and I’ve had several in my recent past). Highly encourage you to test this one if you’re in the market for a new driver this year.

No kidding... he couldn't eve keep it on the map. I actually found the SZ to produce tighter dispersion in my testing. I'll probably switch the weights though so that the heavier weight is int he back to perform more like my EF SZ.

FYI, I just got an email from Worldwide Golf Shops, ie Roger Dunne and Edwin Watts, saying they have the 50% bonus through March 1. But it says in store only and see store for details, and there are none in the midwest. If they're rolling it out I'd have to assume others will as well.
