I’m addicted to buying blades from the late 90’s and 2000’s

I have no intention of putting them in the bag but for $200 you can pretty much pickup any set from that era. MP-33’s, 690 MB’s, Cleveland CG1, etc. I’m currently trying to hunt down a set of TaylorMade RAC TP MB’s that I thought we’re just the coolest back then. Anyone else addicted to buying gear from that era just to own?

Enjoy, as with all the gear out there, you can find really well priced gems from back then. I did the same thing a couple years ago when I went on a blade kick and picked up a set of 660's, 33's, raw MB2s, TP MB's (and a split set). Currently eyeing a set of 14's for no reason at all.. Tho not MB's, also picked up a set of 300 Forged and 690.CB's, because, why not. All 6 sets still cost less total to me than a current line set of blades (under $1k total) here as the price of new gear has been a joke for quite a while now.

Was more of a kick and still shot my best scores ever with the 33's. Still like them, but changed up bag this year. Still want to one day get my hands on a set of Vega VM02 raws. Never hit one, but just loved the look.

I'd try to find a set of the Original Nike Blades as well - should still be available under $200, and they are a lovely looking and feeling iron.

I had mine in the bag for 13 years, and only replaced them as I found a decent set of VR Pros. Which are also worth a look,

The Dee Three - Titleist TS4 9.5 deg, EvenFlow White 6.5 65g, A1 Setting

Henrik - Titleist 917 F3 15 deg, Rogue Max 75x, B2 Setting

The Walking Stick - Titleist 818 H2 19 deg, Rogue Max 85x, B2 Setting

The Interloper - TaylorMade P770 3 iron, S400 Tour Issue, +0.5inch +1 deg loft

The Blades - Nike VR Pro 4 - AW, S400 Tour Issue, +0.5 inch

The Sand Iron - TaylorMade MG2 TW-12 Grind, 56 degree, S400 Tour Issue

The Flopper - TaylorMade MG2 TW-11 Grind, 60 Degree, S400 Tour Issue

The Putter - Nike Method 003 from The Oven

You read my mind. I love getting clubs from that era not only because it is cheap now, but it reminds me of better days for me back then.

I’ve definitely looked into those. My goal is to have a set from every major retailer from that era.

So far I have:

Titleist 690 MB

Mizuno MP-33

Cleveland CG1

So Nike is still in play, need a recommendation on a Callaway set, would love a set of Bridgestone J33 blades, I don’t think Ping has a true blade from that era, need to do more research on Wilson and Cobra, any others I might be missing?

Not limited to that particular time frame, but my blade collection includes:

2003 Hogan Apex 50

Early 80's Spalding Top-Flite Blades

Late 70's Wilson Staff Tour Blades

'67 Wilson Staff X-31 (2-PW, + 1, 3, 4, 5 woods)Also, not blades per se, but "classics:"

690 CB's

735cm's

DCI 981'sNon-classic, not in regular play:

Adams A4 Forged

Adams CMB's

KZG Forged II

Maltby MMB Black's

AP2 712's"Gamer's"

Adams XTD Forged

Adams CB1/Pro Black MB Combo (soon to be CB3 5-iron, CB1 6,7, Pro Black MB 8-GW)

Wow, that's 14 sets of irons (and I wouldn't be surprised if I have forgotten something)! I really need to get some of these up on the BST/eBay. Why is it so much easier to buy than to sell?

No, not on there, but that's pretty funny. My wife likens my golf transactions to 'drug deals' and calls me a loser... Meeting up with random people in parking lots at all hours of the day, just to either get a fix or sell someone theirs...

I still have my old set of Titleist Tour Models, circa 1997, in a crawl space which I'm scared to go in to. LOL. But that is one set of irons you should be trying to find because they're absolutely gorgeous and great to hit as well. Had the same set in Custom Grinds too. Still kicking myself for selling them many years back.

@3PuttsRLife,

Those Snake Eyes Smith & Wesson Forged blades are the sh!t 25 years later! I wanted a set of those before I knew the hold this great game would take on me as a child and that desire is still here an entire quarter century later... Hit’em well!

Still very nice, but the Snakes in the pics are Golfsmith ones. I had several sets of the S&W just because they were unusual and originally so obscenely expensive. Awesome feeling clubs although I recall Tom Wishon making a comment about the sole (was very flat) not having great turf interaction.

Another neat set from that era were the Zevo Z-blades. Wish I would have kept mine but switched those and my Snakes over to the gunmetal Macgregor MT Pros as I like the look.

They are reverse muscle design. Beautifully built clubs. From hands of Don White. They can be hit low however they possess tons of spin, so if attack is less than great you can end up hitting them real high. They are old school and bladest of blades, lol. Intoxicating to hit well, world class accurate, you have to catch it high & heel bound for these, pured shots of the softest ever but punishing to go thin or toe. Swing real hard, there's an incredible rifle crack to them. I love them and have had some incredible times swinging at an "over my head" level with them but I don't make them my weekly gamers for reasons of their demanding nature and my desire to keep them near pristine till I die.
