Mavrick pro irons

I am curious since I haven't seen Maverick Pro irons yet. Are they same size as Rogue Pro? I just got used Rogue Pro set recently to test out and love them way more than my i210 irons. I can take them back and order Maverick Pros if they're similar size as Rogue Pros.

I am going purely off recollection but I would say Rogue Pro will be slightly larger than Mavrik Pro but won’t be a huge difference. I would say if you can play one you can play the other.

I agree, they are close enough to call them the same. The only thing that stands out to me is that the Mav pros may be a bit deeper. That may not be reality but that is what it seemed.

So would anyone recommend these for me?

I average about a 87 per season. A few low 80s a few mid and high 80s very few 90s. My struggle area is irons. Specifically 9 thru aw. My driver swing speed is from 96 to 102 tops. Im a sweeper or very light divot taker. Cant exactly hit the sweet spot on irons consistently. Most days in just above average with irons id say. Hate bulky super offset irons though. Getting a fitting in a few months but curious to know what you guys feel? Would like to play these or standard apex. Thanks.

I took the Mavrik Pro’s from the pro shop out for yesterday’s round in 5-PW with Elevate 105 shafts. I’m no a good iron player, strength of my game is tee ball accuracy and inside 100 yards. I’m used to playing bigger irons, these are look intimidating for to me with minimal offset and thinner top lines. Boy was I surprised by them on the course. Not a good range session but in fairness the range is a mess right now as the grass is in consistent. On the course I was really impressed by the ball flight (high), feel across the face (solid/smooth), and the turf interaction. The thinner sole set up well for me and I was hitting everything crisp. Only had 2 wayward shots and those were pulls that were still hit high and crisp. I may need to give these a longer trial. I was a critic when I saw them online at first but in person they look pretty good but more importantly they flat out perform.

I was impressed with my indoor session, enjoyed hitting the ball higher. I was afraid the LZ105 would be too light, but almost seems to make the head feel heavier, which I like, well balanced for me.

These will be fun to get out on the course this spring.

I am not sure you can call anything from Callaway a sleeper. Haha. The are a marketing machine. These are a good iron for many to consider though.

I dont really see these being marketed, though. There certainly wasnt much hype about them prior to launch, either. People just assumed it would be a reboot of the Rogue line.

Callaway's 'set irons' like the Epic, Rogue, Maverik, Big Bertha, etc have always had a big box vibe to them - where as the Apex line was more geared to 'serious golfers'. The priors needed marketing, but the Apex line didnt.

Now, the Maverik MAX and Maverik irons are being marketed, touted as GI irons by Cally and etc, being proposed by fitters and etc - but nothing is really being said about the Maverik Pros.

IMO thats the makings of a 'sleeper'.

this is a solid set of irons. No fliers today, distance control seemed on point, hit it higher, which I like, but a little breezy today, solid feel. Turf interaction is obviously a bit different than 919T, but got along pretty well. I was able to hit a nicely flighted down wedge into the wind on a par 5. The ball stopped really well on the greens.

i will roll with them again tomorrow and post more feedback.

i can’t see them kicking my gamers out, but a great set for the backup bag and something different to look at occasionally.

will see how tomorrow goes

Yep.

i have had satin irons for a while, the chrome looked good. I just cleaned them, not a mark on the faces.

i missed a couple to the right early, thought maybe the shaft was a little soft, but noticed I was aimed up a bit right, maybe just in my head with a bit more offset. I adjusted and hit some nice shots on the back, specifically the par 3’s.

I am excited to play them again tomorrow after getting more comfortable on the back, plus not testing as many other clubs tomorrow.

still an 80 in February, first round out.

One thing and probably the only thing that would concern me about the Pros and basically any distance-type irons are random fliers.

I've tried hitting them in a simulator about 10 shots with the 7i and didn't really see anything untoward in that regard - small sample size and all.

Would like to know others feedback on this who've played it on course.

Many say the random flyer is a myth. I am not sure either way. But I share your concern.

Shot even better today, but driver and short game were on point. I like these, nice irons, but 919’s are right back in the bag, turf interaction is just better for me, and ummmm feel.

i will most likely keep as a backup set.

i would not say they are overly forgiving, but feedback was minimal. It was cool/cold and breezy, also first 2 rounds of the year, but only 7 greens in reg on Sunday , not good.

The rest of my game was good, so wasn’t just flailing out there. I play a lot so will get them out some more, but my Mizuno’s are calling.

Seems like a resurgence on these thanks to Peyton Manning! His iron shots with these were the difference maker.
