Is Taylormade replacing the P760 anytime soon?

It’s got to be the p790 he is referring to even though he called it a players iron. I can’t think of any other players iron that has been really popular in recent years like he mentioned. The MB’s with the weight in back weren’t popular, they were nice but not really popular

Interesting... I am guessing it is built off the P750. Those were very popular.

that wouldn't be a bad thing but 750's weren't popular with the public at all except for some guys on tour. When TM hypes a product, you can bet it has gizmos on it, 750 was just a forged cavity and that is what I like.

Oh I disagree. I did lots of orders for the 750 and the 770s. But that could be kind of regional thing.

I liked the 750 but only select golf stores carried a demo of that head because it was rather expensive and most would just go with 770. I finally found a pga superstore that had a demo head of it and I thought it was good but was just too much $. I'd bet anything if you looked at the sales numbers the 770 probably at least doubled the amount sold vs the 750's.

750’s and 770’s were huge hits around my area, can’t tell you how many I saw in bags including mine at the time. Really wish TM would go back to these but that’s wishful thinking

For sure. I would not argue that a bit. But I know the 750s sold. They were considered somewhat "tour only" so that created some draw that pushed some to buy.

Oh, I thought they were saying it was modeled after a certain players iron. Always thought the P790 fit into the game improvement category.

They are saying it’s modeled after a past players iron, and yes the P790’s are far from what I would consider a players iron... but TM loves to consider it as one.

... Sure, Forged Tec can make the claim. Personally I don't care how the OEMs or the Magazines market clubs. I don't need a label to figure out what I "should" be playing. Ironically I was not in the market for new irons let alone "players distance" irons but hit the P790's and really loved them. And I have a set of T100-S on the way which of course is being marketed as a Players Distance iron. Yet the irons I play most are my P760's.

It’s taking everything out of me to not pull the trigger on a set of T100S irons. My MP20 MMC’s are incredible but man, I just love the way Titleist irons look at address, they’re absolutely perfect to my eye, especially in the shorter irons. Just curious, what shaft did you end up going with?

...Yup, performance is key of course but the T100-S look just about perfect to my eye at address too. I have played graphite in my irons for almost 20 years now and wanted to try the Kuro Kage 105 shafts. If they don't work for me, I have Recoil Prototypes I can install.

Rahm does not play the 760s. They only top tier guy that I can think of that does is Jason Day.

Nope. P790 3 iron, then 750s. Rory has a 3 and 4 iron in his bag. but not the full set.

I'll try to scrounge up some info today. Love my P760's but always craved something with a slightly thinner topline (to echo other's sentiments). Ordered the P7TW in 4-pw and tried to play them from 6-PW for a couple rounds... mishits were more punishing than I would like, especially after a full season of play with the P760. 8-PW in the bag now (bent 2* strong to create the right gapping with the 760's, don't mind the slight offset really), and if i were playing and practicing more I think I would be very pleased, but right now my confidence is lacking a bit when i'm standing over an 8 iron shot from 165.

excited for the next evolution of the line, as I know many of you are as well. if the last 7 pages have any truth to them amidst the speculation, a MC to fill the gap between P7TW and P760 would fit well in many of our bags and be well received.

ok that was quick - two new irons dropping in August. that's all the info I got. So I'd estimate very few sleeps until seeing something about them (Colonial?).

And even Day's P760s are heavily modified. They are nothing like the retail 760s
