New Project X LS Iron Shaft

Well Boys,  I have a super fast transition and a driver swing speed in the 128-132 range.  I have played CTAPER130X,  bent tips, X100 hard stepped- still balloon them super high, PX 7.0- the best results for me so far but no feel.  Surprisingly, X7 still hit super high!  Modus 3 120X hard stepped- feel great on a smooth swing but can't step on them if I need extra.  So my PX LS shafts just came in so I will be putting them into my Ping Blueprints pronto.   Will post a review in a couple weeks.

I’m thinking about giving these another go but this time in 6.5s. I may have gave up on the 7.0s soft stepped a little too soon thinking they were causing my elbow pain to flair up again. Come to find out it’s just pull-ups causing it!🤣 I miss the laser straight penetrating flight these shafts gave me. And even though they were 7.0s they felt smooth.

Almost seems like a Callaway and fitter exclusive. Mizuno updated their shaft options when they released the JPX 921 Series and the PX LS was not added. Titleist updated their book when they launched the TSi stuff, not added. Same with Taylormade when they launched their new irons. Can't find the PX Blackout anywhere either. LZ blackout yes, standard blackout no.

Just got fitted for these at Club Champion.  6.5 PX LS.  I’m a high ball sweeper.  These dropped my height by about 15’ on average and reduced sim by a consistent 500 rpm.   Surprisingly didn’t feel too boardy.  Definitely a tight feel.  Was second shaft in fitting session; went back to it at the end and still had great results even as my swing was fatiguing.  I have played PX a few times in the past so this didn’t take long to adjust to.  Can’t wait to have them installed in my 770s.  Also a very accurate shaft.  Tightness of shaft really highlighted how forgiving the 770 head is on misses.

what Is your club head speed with 6 iron? did you happen to hit C taper X in comparison?

96mph for 6i.  Yes I did hit C Taper X, was launching high even to the surprise of my fitter.  PX LS was the clear winner.  Also hit $ Taper, Oban 115g, C Taper, Modus 120, and Steel Fiber.

Did you get a chance to hit the LS 7.0? I'm around 100 with the 6 iron and have a set of these on order and was wondering if you had that option to try and if you noticed anything different between the 6.5 and 7.0?

No I didn’t hit any 7.0 shafts.

I do not know.  CC just told me they’d put the order in and call me when they come in.  In MN my golf season is winding down (still sneaking in a couple rounds this week though) so I’m not in a huge rush for them to show up.  I’ll update when they arrive.

I think it's been about a month or so since I had my club guy order them and still nothing.  I'm working on some swing changes again this winter so I'm not in a huge rush, as long as I have them by January sometime to build up i'm not too concerned.

I had ordered a 6.5 4-iron shaft from Billy Bobs(it was in stock) that I put into a 23* RSI UDI.  It was an experiment as i was starting to balloon the ball with a lot of clubs.  I play the 23* off a number of par 4 tees so it was a good candidate for a test.

 

I swapped it in place of a PX LZ 6.5, a huge swing so def not representative of what a lot of people are comparing it to.  I don't mind the LZ, but they're not an ideal fit, to high launch and spin for me.  I didn't get numbers off the LS in the 23*, but the ball flight was much better and I wasn't getting killed in the wind anymore.  Hit down on it and the launch is still plenty high, but flatter, no more upshoot.

 

I liked it enough that I ordered a set of '21 X-Forged CBs wih the 6.5LS.  Got to hit a few of them last night for the first time.  The feel was great, ballflight and distances were right one what I'm looking for.  We'll see what happens on the course this weekend

These shafts are the real deal!!  Smoother than the CTAPER130X and not as harsh as the PX 7.0.   But I can flight them with ease, and i didn't lose any distance with hard stepping them once.  Winner winner chicken dinner!!

Played High Meadow Ranch today with this new setup and my 7 iron was flighted going 190yss.  5 iron 225, 3 iron 275, 9 iron 170, and my wedges where mid launch from super high!!  Love these shafts!!

Can’t agree more.  When fitter handed me these I was expecting rebar.  I was supremely impressed with the feel.  It’s not soft, but not harsh.  Tight is the best way I can describe it.

you didn't play early in the fog with those distances.

 

how did those distances compare to what you were using before?

Overcast cool for Texas, slight mist early. My DGTI X100 hard stepped once shortened to 1993 lengths are about 5 yds farther, but I wanted to narrow my yardage gap between irons.  The PX LS 6.5 hard-stepped once did that!!  I swing super hard and compete in Regional Long Drive competitions in Texas.  I outdrive most people with my 3 iron.  The average golfer will not be able to use my data for help only those with swing speeds 125 and higher!

ahhh ok. I was playing at Memorial Park yesterday first thing and until the fog lifted the ball was going no where! took till second shot on the 6th. 

 

I have been following this thread and getting my new Blueprints on Tuesday with Project X 7.0s, was tempted with the LS but I was hitting the PX further than I was C Taper so just went with them.

The CTAPER130X are shorter for me also, about 3 yards shorter than the PX LS 6.5

Am I crazy to put the 6.5 in my wedges? Have LS6.5 in 4-pw and want to keep the feel the same, concern is shaft weight, I could go 6.0 but that’s going from s400 to 120 gram shaft

I put them in my 52 and 58, best decision i have made in awhile!!  Flighted goodness!!

6.5 normal not hard stepped,  pw-3i are hard stepped once.
