Maxfli Tour

I had mentioned earlier I bought 5 doz this past week. Bought 2 yellow Tours and 3 white Tour -X.  Played with a yellow tour today for 9 holes and was extremely impressed.  Played in wet rainy conditions.  Sloppy course but the ball felt great, and flew way more than I expected on a heavy air/rainy day.   I had my personal best last week with a 4pc Ksig (I still have a dozen left) and was thinking, "what would I do when they are gone? Back to ProV again". But i was impressed like hell out of the Maxfli Tour.  Hope I like the Tour X just as much.

I had a very limited trial of the original 4pc K-Sig and thought it was a great ball. But having played the Maxfli Tour X (not the Tour) I would think you're on the right track with one of the Maxfli models. If you're giving up any performance it is too close a difference for me to detect.

Played the Tour X today and was equally impressed as I was the yellow Tour.  These balls are good.  Real good.

Honestly am a Pro V snob and Snell too, but these are damn good.  Normally feel somewhat disappointed when I play with a lesser ball. I do not feel that with this.  I enjoy these.

If I were retired and playing golf every day but on a limited budget, I could play the 3pc KIRKLAND ball and do fine for like a dollar a ball. I don't actually like it though and would feel like I'm giving up a little performance in search of the lowest conceivable price.

But without going for absolute max-cheapness, the Maxfli Tour X  is about twice the price of the KIRKLAND while still being substantially less than my favorite Pro V1x. And I think once I got used to it I wouldn't be disappointed at all. When I played through a couple dozen of them, the only thing that wasn't what I'm used to was the trajectory. The Maxfli Tour X was more like Pro V1 or TP5 or most other urethane balls, not the extra-high flight of Pro V1x.

I pay around $150 for 4 dozen Pro V1x once a year when they have their spring promo pricing. That same $150 would buy six dozen Maxfli Tour X on sale. So best price is basically 2/3 as much for the Maxfli. Realistically, an extra dollar a ball is a lot to pay for a few yards higher ball flight.

For me personally, I'm already a high hitter with driver and irons. (Wish between swing and equipment could lower my trajectory) and this isn't an issue.  I still have 2 doz of the 4 pc Kirkland left over and I really like that ball too.  Shot my personal best with it 2 weeks ago (+2,74) but that ball is gone for good it seems.  The only complaint I have with that ball is the logo still feels cheap to me.  The 3 pc Kirkland I do not like.  Way to spinny for me so I lose distance with all clubs.  Is that the one you are referring to?   Great price and if you need spin, should be a great ball.  For me, it's short with all clubs.

I did a fairly careful head-to-head-to-head between the original 4pc KIRKLAND, the current 3pc KIRKLAND and Pro V1x. Including spending several hours on a windy day trying comparing approach shots on various holes of a golf course. The 4pc was about as close to a Pro V1x clone as I've come across, it was a very good ball.

Although a certain GolfWRX'er who I won't name likes to stalk me and say I don't know what I'm talking about, I found the 3pc to have more spin than I like with full-swing wedges up to maybe 9-iron or so. But I don't create enough spin or speed for that to be a problem with the rest of the clubs. It didn't seem to be the longest ball I've ever tried but not bad w.r.t. driver distance.

I have a couple friends who are senior golfers with low clubhead speed and they have no complaints with the 3pc KIRKLAND at all. But I can see how for a faster swing it the spin could be a drawback.

Totally agree with the logo and printing looks cheap but so do a lot of balls to me nowadays. That latest Titleist Tour Speed is pretty crummy looking, especially at 40 bucks a dozen!

I would like to hear everyone's impressions about distance for these balls. I played them when they first came out and the x was notably longer. My swing has improved since then. In the last month I've played the non x, and my distance is just ok. Next I'll try the x to see how it does.

How is everyone's distance with these?

I've only tried the Tour X and it did not seem any longer or shorter than my usual distances throughout the bag. But I'm a pretty short hitter so a lot of balls tend to go about the same distance for me.

Very similar boat. Mid 40s, only 5 years in the game, mid to high 80s, but refuse to play senior tees despite 200-220 total driver. Every yard is precious for longer par 4s bc I'm hitting a wood or hybrid in.

If there was a ball that matched me well enough to squeeze out an extra 10 yards with my launch, that means one less club in, and so the search is always on.

I really prefer urethane bc the only part of my game that is my version of good is pitching and chipping, and I can stop my 56 on a 60-80 yard shot with the right cover.

No clue if the CG line actually works or not but I feel this ball is long.

I will admit I was in a swing slump (like I've never been back in June).  Had my 3rd lesson (first time taking lessons) last week and I'm hitting the ball as long as I ever have.  So hard to judge the ball but I normally play Snell MTB x and ProV 1 and the Maxfli is def as far of not further than those.

All in on the Tour X, it’s longer for me off the driver than my usual Srixon XV, probably a good 4-5 yards longer in carry on my irons, spins just the right amount around the greens and holy cow... the durability is insane. Played a full 18 holes with the same ball yesterday and it could have passed as almost new at the end of the round. Anytime this ball shows up for 2 doz for $50, I’ll be purchasing more.

Just read this thread, very interested in trying this ball out, plan on picking up some tour x to test out. Currently play Bridgestone BX

I've played both side by side and for me the Tour X performed just as good as the BX, but the Tour X has a slightly softer feel.

I've played the Tour X for a handful of rounds and it has played decently. I will echo the comments on durability. I played my first Tour X ball for 26 holes before it went wayward on its 27th tee shot. That thing had hit its share of trees, been in a couple of sand traps, and maybe even kissed a cart path or two and it showed barely anything until it went on the milk carton.

They are very durable. I don't know how long the two I have been playing have been in the bag? I hit some water and gave one a break. I really like the Tour, and don't like spin balls, not enough game for them. Straight is fine for me.

Just bought 2 dozen of the Tour X. I've been a Vice guy since high school with an occasional dabble in Bridgestone and a more recent dabble in TP5X. Based on the reviews on here it sounds like you can't beat it for 24 for $50 @ DSG.

Put the Tour X back into play recently and the ball just makes me wonder why I spend any extra on ProV1. It is that good with the only real issue I see is a little worse durability. My playing partners are always amazed at how well it plays on my short game. Great ball and I am going to grab another 4 dozen soon.

I’ve played the green maxfli tour balls and they are definitely a playable ball that does the work any other premium 3-piece ball does. Although I have picked the Bridgestone Rx/ Xs is the ball of choice. I would easily game those right after. Very good ball with value

I found a Maxfli today and the circle was red.

It was marked “Urethane 100 X.

The cover was like a marshmallow for putting, but it flew as well as any of the driver. Virtually no spin into greens.

Really a lot of small dimples is what I noticed.

Any idea if these are sold here in NA? I thought maybe a Japanese version.

Well, after a few weeks with the Tour X I figured the ball wasn't for me. I think when I put it down on the green the markings just bother me or something, in addition to it not spinning enough on full shots and around the greens. Due to being out of Vice balls, I put TP5Xs in play and found better success with them (I think they spin more).

Perhaps the Tour (which should spin more right?) would be better suited for me.

Seeing as Vice Pros (which I've played since high school, with an occasional dabble in Bridgestone B330S & later BXS) are sold out . . . I'd be willing to try the regular Tour, but Maxfli says both balls are "high" spin.

Curious if anyone has compared the spin characteristics of the Tour to the Tour X?

Perhaps I'm just superstitious, which is very much a possibility.

The Tour does not act like a high spin ball at all. I played a Truvis on the back nine, and a Maxfli Tour on the front. I did much better with the Tour, by 5 strokes. I know there are a lot of variables there, but the back nine is an easier course. The Truvis was not the 2020 model. That being said I plan on trying the 2020 Chrome Soft.

This ball off the irons is very accurate with the Ping G700. I stuck one to 1 1/2 feet for a birdie, and how it got there I don't have a clue, as it was an uphill blind shot with the pin in the back, which I did not know. Easily the best shot ever on that green. I am also hitting the most accurate drives, and long with it.

I have been chipping the green Maxfli, and it stands out for some reason, from the grass. I mean it was glowing! So I am wrong about using it in the grass, as it is not really that green.

I like the green color but agree with many others the matte finish gets dirty much to quickly.
