Tiger never hosted this tournament. Tigers Quicken Loan event ended after the 2018 event. Quicken (Rocket Mortgage) a couple weeks after the last Quicken event announced the new Rocket Mortgage event in Detroit beginning in 2019. This replaced Tigers invitational event.

I try to watch at least the ending (if not more) of every event, especially now that there's not much else on. Plus, I won the "we'll pay your mortgage for a year" hole in one promotion when they were doing that, so least I can do is tune into their event.

The Monday qualifier was at my home course. They can set that place up pretty tough if they choose, and I heard they did.

Obviously I'm a Michigan resident, so I have heightened interest in watching. I attended 3/4 days last year and it was a blast.

I will say the course is a little boring to the eye compared to alot of the great courses we have here, but they wanted it held in Detroit City proper so that eliminated most of those options.

I will say one additional thing about Detroit. This is the nicest it's been in my lifetime (40 years), but it still gets the bad rap and is the butt of jokes. That's why we have the slogan "Detroit vs everybody" (and yes, I live 25 miles north like everyone else ?).

I am from Michigan as well (Oakhurst is my home course) . We tried to attend the Monday qualifier but to no avail (Covid). Katke is a tough, challenging, and a great course, in addition to Sharf. OU is blessed to have 2 phenomenal courses.

Nate Lashley played in the Monday qualifier last year, at The Orchards (R. Trent Jones) and didn’t place, only to receive a last minute sponsor’s exemption later that day. The rest is history for him. Doc Redmond shot a 10 under 62, for a course record, and followed that up with a 2nd place finish that weekend. Austin Truslow (great guy) shot a 8 under 64. Followed him around a bit as well and he was impressive (340 yd drives, consistently down the pipe). It was a great experience to watch some intense competition, without ropes. The two best players that weekend were grinding it out, with groups of 5-7 spectators, at best. Six days later they collected over $2mm combined.

Glad to have a tournament back in the D though. With the restoration at Oakland Hills, South Course (by Gil Hanse), we should see a major here soon too. They are putting in HVAC systems under the greens, and if that isn’t enough for a Major or two, I don’t know what is, especially for a famed course as such.

I love Sharf, it feels like you're "up north", and plays 4-5 shots easier than Katke haha. I'm pretty bummed my team didn't get to defend our title in the Cancer Sucks outing at Oakhurst. I guess I could say that for at least five outings this year...oh well it's nice to finally have some live sports back here in the mitten!

I have golf on TV in my office, sound muted. On Sunday, if it's a close tournament, I'll watch the back nine.

That covers 90% of tournaments.

I'll watch match play events, and majors more closely...though if there is no drama come Sunday I'm not spending my day in front of the tube.

I virtually never watch sports commentary shows or radio...just the action please...I spend enough time watching sports that I need a break.

Sure I care about watching some pga golf on TV, it has been really boring on weekends since March...

I watched a few minutes yesterday with a practice round with Bubba, Jason Day, Harold Varner and another guy. They were having fun. Varner was closest on the first hole on his shot into the green. The first hole looked pretty average. Lush and green but not very hard.
