This scramble nonsense is circulating again. Rahm said 4 scratch club champs, in a scramble, wouldn't break par. Pretty sure they would. They only need 1 good shot in 4 for every shot. Every 10 footer they have 4 chances. 4 chances at everything distorts it so much that it’s not even worth comparing. Can say a course is difficult without bringing up the scratch thing.

I beg to differ. I have caddied at Open Qualifiers and seen shedloads of scratch and plus hcp golfers struggle. Standard Scratch for this week's course would be around 80....first round scoring average was 74 and a lot these guys are plus 6 in amateur terms.

Married life has settled Rahm down...he doesn't seem to react as badly to misses and lip outs......

No doubt they’d struggle and they’d average mid 80s on their own but 4 of them together being able to hit the best shot on every single hole, it’s a different game. Scramble is such a forgiving format.

I know, I went there and saw it myself. I just have a hard time thinking that the Tour would have a round with no accessible pin placements for the final round of a big tournament.

I agree on finau. ..as much as I want to see him do better and show off those flashy skills, he just comes across as sloppy. He almost reminds me of a young long hitting club talent who lacks a complete game, than a polished tour pro. I also wonder if leadbetter didn't do him any favors by having him "dial it back" in the power department. ...if you've got it, use it. I think the leadbetter and faldo thought process is old school and not doing these guys any favors these days.

When did Leadbetter work with Finau? Simmerhays shortened his swing so he could keep it on the course. They are long time friends from Utah. His initial swing coach is a guy who worked at a couple courses in Utah too.

People love to talk about Bryson's length process etc but don't spend enough time mentioning that he is hitting it straighter at those lengths which is the key. Not everyone will be able to keep their accuracy or gain it as speed goes up.
