How long after purchase for shipping information...UPDATED WITH BAD SELLER INFO

I posted in WTB looking for a driver or head only.  I was contacted by a member that he had one he was willing to sell, head only.  He send photos and a price of the driver, head only, and I agreed to purchase it.

 

Payment was sent on 8/28/20 at 9:29am.  Since then I have only received two messages, no of which had any shipping information or tracking number.  The first message was right after payment stating that he would not have time to ship it out that day but would ship it Saturday, 8/29/20, USPS Priority 2 day as he did not want to use UPS because they are taking to long to deliver.  I inquired about the shipping information on Saturday, 8/29/20, at 4pm and at 10:15pm but no response on either.  I got a message from the seller at 12:29pm on Sunday, 8/30/20, stating he has all the shipping information and would get it to me later that day.  No response from the seller since then.  I asked if he had an ETA of the shipment after this last message from him and got no response.  I sent another message today around 1pm and still no response.  The message I sent today said that I was still waiting on shipping information, carrier, and ETA for delivery and that it had been over 72hrs since payment was made and no shipping information of any kind has been provided.  

 

I have made countless transactions on this website and have never had this happen.  I make it a rule for myself that I provide shipping information to the buyer within 24hrs unless something very unexpected happens and if so I surely communicate this to the buyer right away.

 

At a loss here on what to do.  The last time the seller was on the site was at 12:59pm yesterday, 8/30/20.  I did purchase using PayPal and I do not want to out the seller just yet, but I will if I have to resort to filing a refund with PayPal.

Why are you at a loss on what to do?  

 

Youre protected on the money front by using Paypal, and from your description it sounds the seller doesnt live on the site (which sometimes seems to forgotten that is ok).  Sounds like he responded to you yesterday (indicating its already been shipped), which also corresponds to the last time he was on and mentioned he would pass the info onto you next time he was on.  Maybe give him a chance to do so, before worrying too much or ringing the DND alarm bells.  In comparison, buying something over the weekend at a box store would at the very least be my expectation and sounds like he is still within that realm, if not surpassed.

I understand your points and I was not going to file with PayPal or out the seller.  I was just merely commenting on it being longer than 72hrs and no shipping information has been sent,  (ie) tracking number or carrier.  The seller only stated he had it but has not sent it to me, which would have had to shipped on Saturday like the seller said.  It is now more than day since he said he shipped it and had the info but nothing provided to me.  I was just looking for some feedback on how long I should wait before doing something, thus the title of my post "How long after payment for shipping information."

My shipping etiquette.... if I don't have time to ship, I don't list (or offer in this case).  I try and ship same day if time allows me or the subsequent day.  Caveat, things do come up and more than 72 hours isn't the biggest issue, but then again, its not hard to send a PM stating delay in shipping.  I understand the immediate "want" of club in hand, but file a dispute if no information is received by end of the week.  Just my opinion.

If I buy something on Friday, I assume it will be shipped on Monday or Tuesday, possibly even Wednesday in certain circumstances. Obviously, he should respond to your messages though.

 

Unless you specified a time you needed it shipped by and the seller agreed, I don't see this as too big of an issue. Him shipping it on Friday or Saturday would have been bonus.

You bought something on BST on Friday and it hasn't shipped by Monday OH MY GOD lets start a post about it.  Remind me to never do business with you. Quite possibly the most unreasonable post on here in a while regarding the BST.

When I sell clubs on here I either ship the same day or next morning and supply tracking immediately.  I don't understand why if he has actually shipped the clubs that tracking info hasn't been provided.  And using USPS instead of UPS because he says UPS is slow to deliver is strange in that many posts here have referenced how slow USPS has become in delivering packages.   Now another question going the other direction is why don't people who receive the clubs sent bother to do a quick responses and say they received the clubs and they were ok?

When I sell (unless you tell them differently during buying process) I want to get club out next business day.  Not always convenient, but if guy paid promptly feel you owe them prompt shipping and tracking.

Actually I beg to differ if the seller said he shipped it and has failed to provide shipping/tracking information for 2 1/2 days.  Thanks for your opinion though.  If you would have read further in the thread you would have read that I ship and provide shipping information within 24hrs of sale.  So if we never do business it’s for the best.  Have a great night.

Similar situation.

 

I bought and paid for a Driver last Sunday, 22 August. The buyer said he would ship as soon as he could get a box. Why do you post an item without a box to ship it?

 

Wednesday, Seller responds saying he would ship it when his driver came in on Thursday. It is now 4 days later, and over a week since I paid him.

 

I've seen he's been on the site in the last 24 hours, but he has not responded to the two messages I've sent since last Tuesday.

 

I advised today that I would like an update, or I would consider it a scam and take action. Six business days seems like more than enough time to ship.

 

That seems reasonable, doesn't it?

Its kinda crappy of him, but you gotta give it more than 1 full business day.  stuff happens in people's lives.  i'd wait until about thurs-fri before i filed a dispute.

I just tried to email him from his email provided on the PayPal transaction and it came back as email not found or unable to receive email.  Now I’m getting a little suspicious.  I have had nothing but perfect transactions on GolfWRX so this is definitely a first for me.

Not sure why you are freaking yourself out. I usually give about 3 business days to have some shipping info. Its only Monday. Some sellers actually do that because they ship it ground and use the extra dead time to make up the extra days shipping. Just as long as he is responding to you, then you should be fine. Unless you have a tournament you have coming up and need this thing to arrive, you should of expressed that in the beginning rather than putting expectations on the seller.

Expressed to the seller that I was leaving Wednesday evening for a four day golf trip and wanted the head for the trip.  Seller has told me twice he shipped the item 2 day shipping and shipped it on Saturday but has failed to send tracking info or even respond to messages asking for the tracking information.

I feel you as the buyer. Believe me Ive been on both ends and it is nerve racking to say the least. Im not against what you are saying. Hoping the seller did what he said he was gonna do. If not, return and say he didnt hold up to his side of the deal. Thats the point that you have to take if it really bothers you or else, all you are doing is complaining to a bunch of people who really cant help the situation. And from my learning experience, Ive shipped enough to tell people that even though it says priority mail, its not a guarantee and the post office will take whatever time it takes to get your item there. Hope it gets to you by tomorrow.

Give him a week then start to worry about it. It's just a hobby on here for most, not a small business. It's nice to be able to ship within a few business days, but they could have higher priorities and haven't got to it yet. I do think if he's on the site he should be at least responding to you though.

I will but I will give it until tomorrow.  It should be noted that this seller has an active listing in the BST and apparently another buyer is having the same issue as me.

Also, just fwiw PP can have dead emails linked to it too.  That can happen if you haven't removed them, but also added new ones to it.

Well turns out he sold and failed to ship items to two other members on this site and they filed refunds with Paypal, so I have just done the same.  This member is KandJMasotti and he currently has an active BST listing, so I would strongly advise anyone not to purchase.  His listing is pictured below.  I sure hope the moderators suspend him from this site or at least suspend him from the BST and WTB so this does not happen to someone else.  It has happened to two other members besides myself and one of them was within the last week and I hope they comment on their experience with this seller as well.

I don't understand the point of this. Do they think people aren't going to file claims and get their money back? This seems ridiculous. There's not a scenario where this actually nets them money, so why go through all the hassle? Sorry for your trouble, OP. That sucks. I've never had issues on here either, but have definitely read some horror stories.

Ive thought about this before and the only thing i can come up with is having the money for a week or 2 before the buyer reports it, if someone is skint and they have 2 weeks to say pay day, they have technically had a "interest free loan" for 2 weeks

 

Its happened to me a couple of times on Ebay and just doesn't make sense and that is the only reason i can think of
