Rickie not using the Rev33 at Winged Foot

Sorry if this is not a new topic, but I couldn't help but notice that he's back to gaming some older Cobra blades at Winged Foot and not the bronze colored Rev33's.

He said that so Cobra wouldn't get dumped on for making a set to his exact design & spec and then have him still not use them.

Yeah despite the photographic awesomeness of the Rev33's, I think your best chance of seeing those again is at a scrap metal facility. Shows why prototypes exist, and Cobra probably jumped the gun a bit on hyping them. Oops.

Such a weird situation and I wonder if it has strained his relationship with Cobra at all. It must be a real kick in the head to go through that whole process only to have him not only ditch them, but back to something way older as well.

He shows up on Thursdays and on Sundays when he's behind.. Fridays and Saturdays though..

I thought he extended his contract last year to wear puma apparel. Not sure about his equipment deal with cobra.  I could see TM trying to land him.

Those irons were soo good. I honestly do not feel that it was an equipment issue. the spin was kinda funny though. Even though no one bought it. 

 

Honestly though, I think cobra needs Rickie and it was worth while to try this.

Can't see it ever happening. He sells a ton of Puma gear and Puma owns Cobra. He would never make what he makes at Puma anywhere else and Puma would all but kill their golf apparel business by letting him go. They are married to each other for better or worse.

I could see him sporting the puma brand and playing with another equipment manufacturer down the road.  Him wearing puma is what brings in the money, not playing cobra clubs.

Puma has the ability to make that deal contingient on him propping up the Cobra Golf brand and Rickie has too little negotiating power to say no at the moment.

Gary Woodland has a Puma deal and he plays Wilson equipment.  It could definitely happen.

Yeah good call. Rickie is definitely searching and also has a penchant for sticking with/rotating in and out older models. Seems like he would be the perfect candidate for lucrative clothing deal + equipment free agency. It would be really interesting to see his bag if that happens.

Cobra is Puma. Besides Woodland everyone who wears Puma gear plays Cobra clubs. It's like the old Nike/Nike and Taylormade/Adidas guys. You don't get one without the other. Woodland is the exception, not the rule.

Wow. Did not know that. Hes closed on sunday. I know it sounds crazy but sometimes i feel hes just coasting... and doesny put that extra gritty tough effort? I also think rory does this except he can turn it on easier and when he wants. This being said... when i need a 3 foot birdie i tottaly burn the edge of the cup ?

I kind of feel the Rickie Puma thing is played out and ran it’s course . 
 

i honestly don’t see much Puma gear on Courses like a few years ago.
