There would be an outside chance I would still put lead tape on that just to feel perfect. 

 

But I'm not a mallet guy so I'm passing this. Now a PLD Dale Anser, I'm throwing money at Ping fast.

This is probably a really stupid question, but what is the significance of the PLD? Is it softer or firmer than their standard offerings?

It's Ping's tour offering/top of the line for putters. They don't always offer them to the public but when they do they go fast.

 

As for feel I cannot fully answer but based on pics these look like they'll be on the firmer side due to the smooth face but probably solid feeling based on the heft too.

For me the putter is very firm feeling as the face is smooth and has no milling. The head is noticeably smaller than their other models with the same head shape.

Some white paint fill on the slight line and that thing would be nice. That's just me I know guys like no sightlines.

And if you paint over it with something like a craft acrylic paint it can come off easy if you don't like it. That's what I use and it works until I upgrade to better paint.

If I just want to try out something just over top is fine, sight lines are usually wide and deep enough paint will sit in there fine. Now if you were going over stamping yeah stripping is necessary as it usually doesn't get deep enough.

Anyone else find the head cover struggles to properly close and cover the toe of the putter? Not sure if this is an isolated issue or overall design problem.

All Ping headcovers are like that, I’d look for an aftermarket one unless you want the toe dinged up.

It seems fine, I’ve only rolled it on carpet as I have Covid and can’t get on an actual green. It may be a touch heavy, I wish it came with the face milling on some of the other PLDs with the horizontal grooves milled in it so it would feel a little softer.

Picked up the putter last night and I've been rolling it on carpet. It has that feel and sound I find typical of putters made out of S25C — clear feedback both on feel and sound with regards to how the putt is struck. And with the smooth face, the feedback is enhanced. A ProV1 is easily discernible from a ProV1 X — the X having a clear, higher pitched sound coming off the face with a firmer feel.

Feel is hard to describe as there are elements of subjectivity, but to me, it has that feel and sound I find typical of putters made out of S25C, which, for me, it means that hitting it across the face will produce a different and noticeable feel and sound, with sound, being more noticeable. So inserts, would be the most forgiving — I can hit a putt all over the face, and it will produce the same sound. Heppler, is pretty forgiving in regards to sound, but not as forgiving as inserts, and I would describe the sound as a thwack. And S25C, would be even less forgiving, with regards to sound, and a smooth face, enhances that. — I can roll what looks like the same putt to me with regards to speed, line, and roll, but the sound produced would be different. — one putt can sound like a thwack, while the other putt can sound like a ting.

 

How does the Heppler series feel to you? Maybe I can give you some inputs based on what the Heppler feels like to you.

Rolled one today. Looks awesome, but there is nothing else remarkable about it. I so wanted it to feel better than it did.

At the golf store...we have a PLD Prime Tyme putter for 439$...it looks nice...feels nice
