SM9s in March?

I understand the reasoning for not making radical changes. That’s their prerogative, but it’s also the reason I’m likely to try Cleveland wedges this year instead of Vokeys again. I have a perfectly good set of SM7’s and Sm8’s at the house. No need to upgrade for the sake of cosmetics, which seem to be a step back IMO

The other site just posted  saying $180 retail (179.99)

That may put a crimp in any discounted SM8 plans.

They can't be too gimmicky as Phil uses full face wedges so Vokey is paying big bucks to get players to use them just like they do with the PRO V1's

Seriously you don't think the pro's are paid to use them. I did not say all of them but just like TaylorMade drivers. They do perform as I'm not against them as I'm just surprised they haven't gone to full face groves as there was a comment made that read I quote "Gotta keep spin up on those toe shanks - revolutionary indeed." As Phil seems to like them for his toe shanks Lol! At least back in the prime days of golf, it's important that Titleist would pay any top pro to use drivers, fairways, wedges, putters, balls, etc... it used to be that based on your rank you'd get between 1k and 7k per week just for having a Cameron in the bag, even if you weren't sponsored by Titleist. When I say big bucks I'm referring to more than what I would make in a week.

Of course they all pay but I highly doubt money is involved. If so taylormade or Callaway would dominate in paying pros to put clubs in the bag. Ball wedges and putters and some drivers are players wants

I know from multiple friends on the PGA and KFT that Titleist does not pay very much for a club contract. They are actually the lowest in the industry. Everyone can believe what they want, but IMO if a player not on contract is playing a Titleist club, they believe it it is the best for them.

That's what I was basically saying if anyone is going to pay it would be taylormade or Callaway we all know titleist is the least.

Maybe they are paying Phil to use the full face...cause Phil loves him some money. Doesn't take a crap anymore without being paid for it.

It's not putting them down. it's basically debating on having game improvement features on a muscle back blade. It's just not going to happen to a traditional club.

I understand as I'm just surprised that Vokey wedges all seem to stay the same with nothing new to add as I know they are great wedges and the most popular wedges on Tour as I have played them myself for many years. Sure they have more to offer with their different grinds, lofts and finishes but I know OP were kinda surprised that they didn't offer full face groves for 2022.

I know why try to fix something when it's not broken but Titleist always seem to just stick to tradition especially when it comes to their wedges and putters.

I'm beating a dead horse. Debate all we want but vokey has targeted the lower handicap. muscle back blades haven't changed tech in decades its the same direction for vokey

Thanks for the tip! I looked at the post and I could be wrong, but it looks like the SM8 wedges to me (based upon the one on the far left). Given he tagged Titleist in his post, I would imagine he is following the embargo rules.

Looks like the answer to what he was "working on" is here:

too bad it is only through wedge works.  So "you" should be getting yours in hand in 2023!

Is this a reference to delays?  I'm confused but think it is a unique addition to a wedge lineup.

Yes, being a bit cheeky... At best.  I hope orders would be fulfilled reasonably on time.  But I think wedge works bandwidth can't be that great.  Any significant influx of orders is going to delay things quite a bit.  Still, the offerings are pretty exciting.

I wonder if those flight lines will be a big up charge to the wedge... bc if it is, then your stock wedge with some laser etched lines will now cost you close to $200 or more depending on stamping, grip, shaft, etc. lol.

The SM9 is up on WedgeWorks. $225 for raw. Yikes

https://www.vokey.com/product/WM137.html#start=1

I hope this is a mistake with the SM9 launch, but with SM8, the raw upcharge was $40, but it included free stamping, free ferrule upgrade, and free shaft band upgrade. That's $35 of the $40 if you were already doing those options. But with SM9, its a $45 jump AND those options ARE NOT free with raw head. Again, hoping that's a mistake. UGH.

Waiting to see if they will offer a T grind again thru wedgeworks. Wish I had just gotten another SM8 when I had the chance. Judging by the website, they are really starting to price gouge, $45 jump in price for raw and now charging for stamping, etc.

Agreed just checked and stamps, ferrules, stickers, etc all are additional charges now. What a joke. Just make the raw then the same price as other finishes.
