2021 Callaway Epic Speed, Epic Max, Epic LS drivers (in-hand photos)

Tour only (at this point) Speed V2, Speed DS and Speed LS all have 3 diamonds in the heel area. Purely a guess, V2 is closest to Mavrik SZ Triple Diamond, DS will be draw bias and LS being similar to Mavrik SZ.

Forgive me if this has been brought up already, but apparently there’s a true SZ model and a lot of the tour guys are using it. Left handed no less. Really would love to get my hands on a LH one.

You may see the TD at some point in RH but not LH. Will be very hard getting one in lefty

Ya, that's not really surprising.....outside of a rep having one left over and all the stars aligning I cant see myself getting one. A deeper faced (SLDR) type SZ with a weight setup where I can change forward/back CG is a bit of a unicorn for me. MAVRIK SZ will stay in the bag for a bit it looks like.

Still no TXG review, seems odd

anyone else place a pre order?

I’m still on the fence. Seems like the Speed would fit me best, but I’m so sick of Callaway having 12 different heads (includes all of the tour ones). Seems odd they release 3 drivers at a time and despite the ability to spec heads out they still need custom tour heads that aren’t available at retail.

Guys I'm telling ya, the Max head is THE hidden gem in the '21 driver releases.

Looks like a Toyota Camry, but has a ZR1 'vette engine in it. Drivers this easy to use aren't supposed to be this nasty long, but it is just that.

Again, I’ve got to say... This could be a Callaway driver year for me for the first time since the X2hot haha. That Max LS is screaming my name. I feel like it’s the only driver this year that has a reasonable chance to knock the 410LST out of the satchel. I’ve got a fitting coming up Feb 5, and I can’t wait to put these through their paces.

No, the Max. Put the weight full toe, set it on -1 if you need to, and just let it work.

The results Matt got in that video jive exactly with what I’ve been seeing on course.

A Callaway fitting?  I can’t seem to find one in my area (ponte vedra) and there’s usually a dozen around me this time of year.  I hope they don’t push the fittings in my area till March, that’ll be a real bummer.

I've got a fitting on the 5th also, with a fitter not affiliated with one company.  I want to hit them all and pick a winner.

I hope people see that in 9° +1°/N setting the Speed head was very neutral for Matt. In my multiple tests with it I find it wants to go straight unless you hit the ball in the extreme toe.

Was lucky to hit the Speed and LS on the outdoor range yesterday. Overall the entire face is much hotter and more stable than the Mavrik SV that has been in the bag. The club flat our performs. By far my biggest issue is the sound (and that stupid EPIC logo on the back of the crown). The best way to describe it is high pitched metallic ting with a mellow carbon crunch finish. Think of the sound of a bullet hitting a metal plate down range. The Speed and the LS both sounded the same. Having watched a bunch of the reviews I don't pick up the same sound on their indoor testing but in speaking with the pro who is on staff he agreed that it is a known concern

couldn’t disagree more. Spending time hitting PV1X and PV1 indoors, the sound and feel of the Max LS is the best I’ve heard from them and exactly what they needed continue from Mavrik over to the Max line of things.
Right now it’s either Max LS or TSI3 for myself for sound and feel easily leading the 2021 category

That’s what I’m saying, the supposedly draw bias Speed head played 1° up (closing the face slightly) did nothing but fly dispersion wise within the width of the green on TXG’s driving range during Matt’s testing. The slightly closed face should have exaggerated the draw bias but it didn’t.

I don't see nor feel anything draw bias in the Speed Driver Head.

I can hit it left with the best of them, my first 10-15 balls with the Speed, not one single ball crossed the line to go left. Every single drive was on the line or to the right.

I will say, and I apologize if I already mentioned this, but the Speed really came alive for me when a heavy weight, 12g, was put into the head. Came. Alive!

Just my $0.02.

What is the stock weight?

I have a Speed on order and have some heavier weights already, Callaway heads always seem light to me.

Stock was either a 5 or 6 gram. I forget. 12 in there now. Total head weight is 200g.

I agree, once I put a 14G in the Speed 9° and dropped it to 8° she started humming! That brought the head to 202G (no adapter) which is a 2G  lighter than my Mavrik which I play at 44.75”.

Stock weights are 5G in Speed, 13G in LS and 17G Max.
