What is everybody's stance on the clip on club brush?

Recommended Posts

I seem to recall a ways back, a lot of people were down on using the club brush. It was kind of lumped into that category that was home to iron head covers and other "don't be that guy" stuff. Is the club brush still thought of that way or have people softened to it over the years? I noticed today watching the Southwestern College tournament that quite a few players were using one and it got me curious to know what community here thinks about those.

I never knew this was frowned upon. I just thought the people I played with were lazy. I’ve always used one and always will. I use a towel to wipe off and the majority then clean what’s left with the brush.

What’s wrong with club brush? 🤯

I’ve been using one since I started golfing. It’s efficient at getting the dirt and grass off of the grooves. Love it.

I've never once heard someone say anything negative about a brush or someone who carries one. I've had one on my bag my entire golfing life and always will.

A wet towel is great but it can only clean so much especially on those hot, dry days when dirt gets baked into the grooves. I'll use my brush to make sure I get the grooves clean.

I forget if it was Johnny Miller or maybe Azinger, but one of the broadcast guys said something pretty negative about them haha

Considering they literally paid someone to carry their bag and clean their clubs I'm not surprised they think that. Just like I'm sure that people who pay a maid to clean their house every week find it silly to own a toilet brush, but for the other 99.9% of us it's a necessary tool 🤣

Be your own person.  If you want iron covers, a club brush, a towel in your pocket, and ball mark on magnet on your brim while wearing joggers and man bun (or mullet) do it.  Don't live your life worrying about what other people think.

Since I don't have a caddie to clean my clubs after every shot, I carry a brush. I really don't care what anyone thinks about it.

I carry one as well along with a wetted towel. I'm remembering or misremembering the brush come up in a very old thread. Probably more than 5 years ago. It was probably one of those threads where people are complaining about irons looking beat up after a few rounds. I don't have a problem with any golf bag accessories or devices.

I don't clip one on my bag but not for this reason. The metal wires SHRED my towels, as I only have one "D" loop on my bag to hang anything. Instead, I keep one of those wet brushes (Grooveit) in my water bottle holder.

I've had this problem with the towel grabbing. I also had a spell where the only good spot to clip the brush caused the wires to dig into my shoulder blade when I carried my bag to and from.

Guess I'm the outlier here.  I just use my towel.

I don't care if people carry a brush, it's not my bag to worry about.  If ya like it and use it, great.

wet towel does a nice job. I have brush for club cleaning at home.

I carry my bag so less stuff is better.

I just rip out the wire bristles with pliers and keep the side with the plastic bristles. Do it every time I get a new one.
