There's just too much parity now to approach a 30 win career, nevermind 70+ wins. As great as Inbee has played over her 15 years on tour, she "only" has 20 wins on the LPGA.

Disagree. Yes there is a lot of parity but someone will come along that dominates for a long time. That line was given on the PGA Tour before Tiger and the same was said on the ladies tour before Annika...and Karrie....and even Lorena.

Their seemingly is a lot of apathy on the ladies tour. Similar to Womens tennis they shoot to the top and fade away early. But someone will come along and be driven to win, and continue winning , for years.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a player stay at #1 for an extended period of time, but I just don't see anyone winning 30+ times. Nevermind 70 wins. Annika averaged 4.2 wins a season for her LPGA career! Only a few players in recent years have won four times in a single season, nevermind a 17 year span.

Sounds very similar to the men’s tour in the early 90’s.

Tiger has only averaged 3.28 wins a season. The women generally have much shorter careers. Just don't see a 30+ time winner coming. If Hall of Famer Inbee can't do it, I don't see anyone doing it.

Remember when they said they were all too good for anyone to dominate. And then some guy named Tiger showed up.

Generally shorter careers yes. But imagine if a women equivalent of Tiger joined the tour.  Kicking butt and caring about not her other than golf. No thoughts of motherhood. That would be like Inkster or Davies with Annika skills.

@Shilgy: For awhile, i thought Park Sung-Hyun 🇰🇷= "the one" who would dominate the LPGA for years.
By coincidence, one of her nicknames = "Tiger"🐯!
(Doesn't have a golfing pro sister though, as far as i'm aware... so i promise to get back on topic!
🙏sorry @tonyj5)

https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/life-culture/park-credits-tiger-woods-for-stunning-singapore-win

"Park is so popular in her native South Korea that she has an army of fans following her every move in shirts emblazoned with the two-time major winner's nicknames.
They include "Namdalla" which means "I'm different", "Dak Gong" which translates as "shut up and attack", but the one Park is fondest of is "Tiger"🐯, a tribute to her golfing hero Woods."

Am I right in saying that neither has a club sponsorship?  Given they both play a lot of Titleist surely a marketing opportunity is being lost here by Titleist (or a competitor).

Or, they don't want a club sponsorship?  Play the clubs you want, and make money with the lowest score/various other endorsements.  Not saying they are the richest duo in the world but at the same time I doubt their debit cards are in danger of being turned off.

True.  But Nelly has pretty near full bag of Titleist now so you think they might be tempted.  I guess they think people see them in her bag anyway.  But it does mean they don’t use her in advertisements.

This all comes down to how much Jessica Korda wants to remain a prominent figure on the LPGA. She's 28 and already a 10-year vet with tons of money in the bank and a successful family situation. At 22, Nelly is the sister with a fire still in her belly. Beyond a major, what is really there to motivate Jessica? I feel like a half-effort from Jessica still brings in enough bacon to live well, a la Adam Scott--beautiful swing that only needs to work part-time to pay the bills. To me, that's kind of what she is. Maybe she'll get her Major the way Scott did, but that's really up to her.

It's hard to argue that Jessica doesn't have as much or much potential than any of these others. Nelly admits Jess is the superior putter. Compared with Moriya, Jessica is more comfortable in the spotlight and has a better resume. And until Ariya starts hitting driver, she isn't going to out-hit someone as long as Jessica Korda. While I grant Ariya the better resume, it's still unsettled and Jessica is playing great while Ariya is still battling to come back.

I love watching Jessica Korda but I really don't think someone as comfortable as her is motivated the way she probably once was. Life catches up with you at 28, especially for women. If you've got money in the bank and you're not driven by some sort eternal flame (e.g. Inbee) it's just hard.

So say what you will, but if Jessica Korda chooses to take golf seriously--as I believe she's elected to do this year--then the Kordas will remain prominent, far more than any other duo.

No matter how good Ariya once was (and may be again), Moriya is the sweet little sis that you just don't trust to get wins. She's the Matt Kuchar of the LPGA. I love her and she's made herself a boatload of money to sit on but she's not a force. Both the Korda's can be a force if they want it. As much as I know we all love little, sweet Moriya, she's not the Battleship these others are.

Actually, Moriya is the sweet big sis.

I think what's driving Jessica is simply the desire to beat Nelly week in and week out. They've commented numerous times over the past few years about the bets the two of them have. If there's one thing I know from experience, it's that an older sibling can't let the younger sibling get the best of them.

Good catch...Moriya is still little though, LOL, you have to give me that!

All jokes aside, I don't know if Jessica is actually motivated seriously by competition with Nelly. Maybe that's true but at 28 who knows? Either way, I sure hope we get more from Jessica. With a Major still missing from her resume she's got plenty to prove and neither her nor her sister have reached #1, the way Ariya did.

Selfishly, Nelly and Jess are both in my top-10 faves as far as watching goes. So were Lydia and Ariya. It was a shame to see them all drop down in the rankings. Now that Jess and Lydia are back, hopefully Ariya finds her groove again as well.

Ariya seemed too good a putter to fall into the abyss. Seems that with a decent long-game she'd be relevant.

IMO no.  If you're looking at the team - then it doesn't matter about the individuals on the team; and the typical way to evaluate a team is by major; total LPGA wins; other professional wins; and lastly, statistics.

Sorenstams by a mile -  ~ 10 majors; +72 LPGA wins; ~20 other pro wins.

Jutanagarns 3 majors; about 11 LPGA wins; about 3 other pro wins

Kordas  1 major; 11 LPGA wins; a couple of other pro wins.

Quick question:  who is the GOAT ever on the PGA tour?

I bet most people will think Jack Nicklaus; but not Sam Snead.  😀  Major wins was always the standard even Tiger used for himself.

Majors matter; then wins; then stats.
