DBM Forged build

Starting a DBM Forged build.  I have 3 ferrules that will fit well, which one would you go with?  The plain black is the stock ferrule that GW recommends for the DBM.  I'm leaning towards the red and silver for some reason.

 

Bored and waiting for the Nippon 1050GH shafts to be delivered...

I'm really interested to follow along with your progress. 

 

I mostly used Maltby TE forged last season, but I made a decision going into this season that I wasn't going to play a lot and decided that I probably needed max forgiveness so I put a set of G15 in the bag that I've had around forever.  I went and played on Friday as a tune up for my work league starting and it was a complete disaster.  I don't even swing that fast and am a picker/sweeper and found the combination of the very soft AWT R shaft and huge soles were fighting my tendencies big time on the unusually hard spring ground conditions.  

 

I'm going back to the TE forged for better or worse.  I have my set with Dynamic Gold R300 taper tips soft stepped.  I think the heavier shaft work wells well with my tempo and the stiffness is spot on what I like.  I know these work well when I'm playing more often, we'll see what happens when I'm not.

Check out BB&F ferrules.  They have some pretty sick designs.   This one would look nice.

I appreciate the suggestion, but their prices are silly.  I like the black/white ones I have better and they were $3/dozen.

Went with black/white, turned out great.  Now hopefully it performs well...

I don’t totally disagree with you, the cost is definitely a factor.  The ferrules really are fabulous to work with and they do add a signature to your build that will make you smile every time you pull an iton

Very nice looking irons. Solid choice on the ferrels. I was going to ask if either matched anything you already had. Looks like you made a nice choice to match the grips.

Good choice ... I went with white & 2 black rings. 

 

I would recommend you have or get some spares, I got new wedges and reshafted them with matching ferrules, also had a ferrules move up the shaft and create a gap, couldn't get it to move down, had to pull the head & reshaft with new ferrule, or worst you need to replace a club.

 

A few spares are good insurance, you never know when you may need it.

I'm contemplating a similar build.  I use these ferrules from grail golf almost exclusively, which is similar to what you did.

I have found that if a ferrule rides up and creates a gap, run it under the hot water faucet for a short while. It softens it enough to move it back in place.

So, build aside, tell us about the new irons!  Like them so far?  I'm using TE forged bent 1* weak, playing off 48* PW and am on my 2nd season with them.

Haven't hit them yet.  Actually listed them on the BST.  Kind of took the build on out of boredom.  But no takers on BST so might try them out soon.

Finally put the DBMs in play today.  Broke par for the first time ever.  Beat my best score by 5 shots for a 1 under 69.  Pretty good result.  Think I'll give them some more time in the bag.

I like the white, gives it nice contrast.  I could see removing it if went all black like you did there.  I really like the white bottom groove, stands out and makes face alignment a breeze.

Package reads divotmastersgolf.com part no 9410WWi.  Doesn't seem to be a functional website anymore.  I don't remember when I got them could have been over a decade ago for all I know.
