I’m not very good yet and I don’t have a full bag of clubs.  I would take a 5i off the tee for 200-225 yards if I do my part, have a short chip, and hopefully 2 putt.

 

In a scramble, I’d hit a controlled driver.

Driver for sure, most likely come up just short and wedge close for an easy par. At least that is the positive outlook, most likely scrambling for a bogie or worst is reality.

Cut a 3 wood in from the left side to take the bunker out of play. It would end up 10 yards below the hole. 4 putt from there.........

3W into wind, 2H wind at my back.  Either way I'm probably trying to get up and down for my par.

Teed 3-iron is normally 230 yard carry and kick forward another 30-40 ft. That should leave about a 35-40 ft. 2-putt and move on to the next one.

Don't know how this one got necrobumped, but I'll bite. I think I'm aiming at right edge of the green and hitting a smooth draw with a 3H. Slightly downhill that'll fly about 235, land just short, and roll out to 245-250 or so in the fat part of the green. If the pin's back I'll just take the long putt.

I would have to hit a cut 3W shot.  Might be able to reach the front with my 2 hybrid, but would all depend on environmental factors.  That's a difficult par 3.

Better players could hit a 7i, 6i, 4i, 3i, 3W, etc. to that hole. The question is what is the best club choice, not what club you can hit at 100% power to reach the green with a flush shot. I have learned that concept in recent months, maybe you have not yet reached that point of your golf game.

 

Knockdown 3i is what I would use today, yesterday I may have chosen something different, tomorrow I may have a new idea. If you aren't learning and getting better as a golfer then you're falling behind. That's the TW ethos.

For me?  253 yds down hill is a 3W.  Only because I'm too stubborn and dumb to grab a driver.  Aim at bunker in OP photo, and hope it draws.  

 

Why're we playing this far back again??
