And Cobra pays Rickie- like no one else would. He’s one of the 2 marquee players there.  He’s be one of many anywhere else. Can’t imagine TM or Callaway paying him anything close to Cobra.

Hard to see Rickie going anywhere. Doesn't make sense for either of them. Rickie really made modern Cobra , you saw kids all the time dressed like him. Before Rickie Cobra really didn't have much going from a marketing perspective. With Rickie they were a cool young brand, flashy colors and flat brimmed hats.

 

And as you say, if Rickie leaves that he's just some random dude at Tmag. He'd never had the opp to be the face of a brand again

 

I don't even think his performance matters all that much, as long as he can get a bit back on track that's fine

If Cobra stays with the young daredevil image, it’s only a matter of time until the next successful cool kid hits the tour and Cobra takes Rickie’s money and throws it at the new guy.  Nobody can stay young for very long.

I've got a Cobra 3 wood in the bag as well as a utility.  I have never really associated a Pro with brand that attracts me to buy a particular club.  I buy based on reviews and what suits my eye.  I also watch and know enough about golf to realise that the clubs in Bryson's bag are not the sort of stuff on the rack at the local pro shop.  I don't think losing him will damage the brand (yeah, I think they should ditch him after his comments).  Cobra need to get in and sponsor some decent amateurs like Ping and Titleist do and stick with them through their careers and hope to bag a top five player in the process.  to me Cobra represents innovation, affordability and a more technology based appearance than other brands - I like the bright colours, carbon etc.  their drivers, wood and hybrids are up there with the rest of the market, irons need work and the new line of putters are great but too expensive IMHO.

I don't think they are bad clubs at all. I can see where not only what Bryson has said but also how poorly Rickie is player sure hasn't help the sales as you would be shocked as to how many people will play what their favorite Tour Player plays.

This will hurt Deshambles more than Cobra.... who are an established company that makes quality clubs and if you like them you can't go wrong with Cobra.

 

He will be seen by sponsors and fans as one who can't be trusted..... cause you don't throw your company under the bus like that specially when they have shown to do anything and everything to make clubs that you love... but you have a bad outing and blame them.  Before the British my friends, yes I have friends, and I all said the same thing that those tight fairways and long rough will eat him alive BUT if he was as smart as he thinks he is he would dial it back a lot like hit 70% and still be one of the longest hitters and find the fairways.... but noooooo

 

He hasn't even learned to play the right game for the right course..... He's like the fighter with a huge knock out punch that has no jab or game plan and loses then cry's

Bryson is a ******. That said, I just sold my only Cobra club, a speedzone driver. I feel like I’m not accurate it with compared to TM.

Yes, whether they did it in public or not if I were there legal team I would have immediately looked for ways out of the contract with Bryson. They did the best thing they could by calling him out. Others disagree but I think it was the only way they save face. 
 

The thing is… Bryson isn’t a great spokesman for any of his sponsors and his “unfavorability” is growing (to use a political term)

 

They should know internally whether he moves the needle in one length. Granted they’re largely the only game in town from a mass retail standpoint so it doesn’t have to be tons of units because they’d have all the share but they’d know that. 
 

They also probably think his quest for distance is a good thing for their driver sales but again they should have that data. If the share isn’t growing I think they’d be better off using that money to seed lots of Korn Ferry or even college players and try to lock up some future guys while keeping Rickie as the flagship tour rep and hope his game comes around.

Cobra makes great woods and they have for many, many years I don't think they're going anywhere

I'd venture to say the vast majority of people that play Cobra equipment never even heard Bryson's remark.  In fact I'd go as far as saying there is a sizable group that has never heard of BDC and could not pick him out of a lineup of other PGA pros. There are a lot of golfers out there that don't follow the PGA Tour on a regular basis and nowhere near as stringently as many on GolfWRX.
