Well, as predicted the 18th did provide some drama today. Would have liked to see some wind, though. 

 

Congrats to Anna. Solid play all day. Wind or no wind, a single bogie is a fantastic round. She didn't do anything to make it easy for the chasers. Probably left a few strokes out there with the short putts, but quality ballstriking and lag putting. 

 

Oh, Nanna. I tip my hat to her for hanging in there all day. I was definitely a naysayer, but she proved me wrong until her approach to the 18th. I agree with Karen that Anna's shot put the pressure on her, and, well. Can't really blame her for that bunker shot. Downhill lie at the back of the bunker and needing to knock it stiff, she had to go for it. Brutal that it wound up costing her some T2 money. 

 

I'm guessing Lizette wishes the hole was 2 inches wider, as she's likely have a few majors to her name. She does seem to show up for them. Kudos. 

 

Oh so close for Georgia and Madelene. Georgia couldn't buy a putt down the stretch, and Madelene made the one mistake that you just can't on the 18th when she put her tee shot in the bunker. 

 

Not quite the day for Louise, but an impressive week nonetheless. 

 

I enjoyed the tournament even though most of my favorites were also rans, and most of the big names sputtered. They did manage to reach double digits under par, but only because Mother Nature took a summer break. Can't wait for them to return. 

 

I had to pause the DVR for a while to attend to a commotion outside my balcony. Lol. Got a few good videos in the set.

Yeah, I'm talking about LPGA tour events in general.  Who was the last to win without getting showered?  I can't recall

Nelly at the Olympics? Of course that wasn't a typical LPGA event. 

 

Ariya and Moriya didn't get a shower at the Dow I believe. Nasa stayed dry at the Marathon. 

 

I don't mind the celebrations as long as they take place after the players in the final group have had a chance to exchange pleasantries, and that they are on a level appropriate for the accomplishment. First win? Water shower. First major? Champagne shower. First win in 5+ years? Water shower.

Three leaders start the 18th at -12. Only one survives. The 18th claimed its leader victims yet again. It’s cursed.

Really enjoyed the competition today. The course was gettable but you couldn’t play recklessly without risking a big number.  The year I played this course I was surprised how scoreable it was without wind. I was one under thru 9. Then the burn shows up and the final 4 holes hit you one  after the other. Anna hit 4 hybrids in a row into those holes and parred every one of them. To me that is one of the biggest changes in tech from the previous generations. The hybrids are very point and shoot whereas long irons were not. That final 4 holes may be the most challenging finish in golf, especially in a 2 club wind.  Even in light winds it gets its victims.

I was happy a European won.

What happened? I recorded the coverage on the Golf Channel, and also the two hour final coverage on NBC with no issues.

Was watching the dvr (YTTV) and the the giants game came on with 4 holes left. It’s PRESEASON cmon

Anna Nordqvist is too tall.  Here she is standding next to Annika.  Note that Anna is wearing flats whereas Annika has 'kitten heels" . . . so it stands to reason that there is no way that anyone on tour was going to be able to do the spray  champagne shower.
