Ladies Saudi Invitational (LET Tour)

I was watching the LET tournament this morning being played in Saudi Arabia and couldn't help notice every player was wearing long pants or if in a skirt they had on full length leggings underneath. Watching on TV it just appeared a bit odd. The announcers stated a couple times about the high heat there.  Does Saudi Arabia ban women in shorts in public?  I saw the men caddies were in shorts and on closeup shots you could see most everyone sweating.  Last week they played in Dubai (different country) and they were allowed to wear shorts.  Just curious.

Essentially a don't show too much skin thing. Can't really get too much further without getting the mods involved.  

 

There are some players discussing the heat and the clothing required.

No wonder Tutta didn't CONCEDE the putt.

If the players don't like the dress code then play somewhere else. Saudi is trying to clean its image through sport. Baffled to how these ladies can turn up and play in a nation with such draconian rules and minimal women's rights.

Great to see Thitikul up on the leaderboard again.

 

She has been so dominant on the LET and is an amazing talent.

Both Lydia Ko (-16) and Atthaya Thitikul (-12) put out quite a show Saturday and separated themselves from the other players.  The two child prodigies will have a shoot-out on Sunday.

There must have been a rule change at the last minute because I've seen many wearing their normal shorts/skirts/skorts this week. Definitely different from last year's event.

I suspected the offenders were trying to send a message to the Saudi's.

And I gotta believe they won't get away with it and expect the offenders who didn't trunk slam to be dressed like this on the weekend.

 

BTW....I suspect "KARENS' don't exist in Saudi Arabia.

Congratulations to Lydia Ko, this is her first multi-win season since 2016.

 

Lydia was in "Beast Mode" most of the tournament; things are surely looking up for her!

I wouldn't...I'm SCARED.

I certainly wouldn't want to be near her after her double on 18......she looked like she was ready to throw her clubs and push cart into the water.

 

I appreciate Hedwall pushes her own clubs and doesn't need some goofball cleaning her clubs and golf ball.

 

Caro is so strong...looks like she could bench press 300+ pounds.

RESPECT.

Tina should get Lydia to befriend Caro and build up some bulk and strength...then Lydia would be untouchable with distance/length along with her crazy good short game & putting.

Lydia is so skinny and TV puts on 10-15 pounds.

 

I was always grateful that REAL women like Hedwall and Laura Davies represented and played for the Euros at the Solheim Cup

Most likely very fat appearance fees to all  players in Saudiville.  Did not see one  spectator, though minor applause was heard. Certainly saw no locally dressed man (long white robe) or woman (long black robe). Did see some very nice looking players in short pants, so i guess no Saudi TV.

Believe this was the richest LET tourney this year at US$ 1 million.  LET the money flow.

 

Watched Lydia Ko using a straight stick putter shaft, seldom seen but highly effective, in her hands.

Phasing out of lockdown, Melbourne will be 'covid out' by Nov 24th - thankfully.

 

Rusty as anything but nice to be playing again, although spring in Melbourne is notorious for plenty of rain and we are having plenty, this coming week an example. Not 6 months of rain like you, though.

 

Really looking forward to the last two LPGA events.

A confirmed water spout....but not confirmed it was a tornado when it hit land,

 

That's UBC golf course....a very popular parkland style course by UBC university.

I tend to play nearby McCleery...especially when they had good 2 for 1 Redbook twilight coupons.

Covid killed all the past good deals.

 

McCleery is located along the Fraser River...across from the airport.....this area has 3 premier private tracks in Vancouver.

Many many multimillion dollar houses.

Lots of Chinese live in the area....including my future wife....the LOVELY Meng Wanzhou🤣...who was "imprisoned" in her two $5M & $12M houses.
