Pro V1 - White Vs Yellow

 

Which do you prefer? 

 

I prefer yellow

 

I believe they play longer in Distance and Life. 

 

Distance, not like I measured but it seems I’m hitting a softer wedge in every now and then.

 

Durability wise I don’t think its a contest, the yellow seems to stay in play forever.

 

All that and I see em a bit better (important part of the lifetime thing).

 

Shame they were out of them at dick's last time I needed a dozen.

Someone I play with swears that the yellow ball has better durability.  He played white for a long time and then switched to the yellow when they first came out and switched back to the white ball from the same year to confirm his suspicion.

To me, the yellow feels different. Not sure about distance though. It definitely appears to hold up better as well.

I've tried both and didn't notice any sort of performance or durability difference between the two. 

 

My theory on the "durability differences" is just that the yellow ball isn't going to show scrapes, scuffs, and etc. as easily as the white ball.

 

Sort of like how a black car and a gold car can be equal amounts of dirty, but the black car is going to appear way dirtier just because it is more noticeable on that color.

I have tried both yellow and white balls from different manufacturers and I feel the yellow balls are always harder/firmer.

 

As far as visuals, I wish these companies would also make orange balls which I can see way better than yellow or white.

Same here, though I’m never sure if it’s my imagination. I do think back in the 2000’s this was very much true. I have a tougher time telling with todays PV1’s

Not harder bot shows scuffs less

Was able to get another box of yellows and used a single ball that still looks new once it’s cleaned up.  
the white ones you can see they’ve been in play after a round a bit easier.  They still look ok but not as good as the yellow.

Probably in my head but i feel the yellow V1 is a smidge firmer and maybe a fraction less spin.

Yellow golf balls are weird.
 

Studies have shown that people who play yellow balls are also most likely to chew with their mouths open, and take calls on speakerphone in crowded elevators. Plus I have it on good authority that yellow balls are factory rejects that have been salvaged and repurposed (kind of like how chocolate milk is made from normal milk that has gotten a bit “questionable”).

As a couple others have mentioned, I think the yellow ball feels different (firmer).  I know it’s supposed to be the same ball, but something is different! 😀

just wait until you get older. I'm 57, and my SS is still around 120, and I'm hitting the ball longer than ever. My swing is producing drives of 330, my eyes are producing about 250 yards, lol. You'll get there someday, it happens to us all.

That’s impressive stuff at 57! I’m 43 and can already feel it in my eyes a little when I’m tired. I know it’s a matter of when not if. Luckily I’m mitigating that by having a slower SS (105-110) lol.
 

I think if your biggest issue is that you’re hitting it so far you can’t see it anymore, you’re doing juuuuust fine. Kinda like being so handsome that women won’t leave you alone. First world problems! 😂

 

P.S. - For a sec there I thought the “you’ll get there someday” was referencing the 120 SS, and I got excited. Sad.

I'm a few years older than you and can still track the ball fine in terms of seeing it all the way until it lands, finding it in the rough, etc.

 

But my distance judgement nowadays is bollocks. I'll think a ball is sitting on the front of the green until I get within about 30-40 yards and it'll be on the back fringe. Or I'll think it finished pin high and it'll be 40 feet short but I can't tell until I'm almost walking onto the green. Very weird being able to see the ball flying or bouncing but not tell short from long.

You're hitting drives well over 300 and still tracking the ball fine? That's great if true!

there's the issue, add 100 plus yards and see if you see the white ball. I played the Vice pro plus lime green yesterday, the most visible ball I play, and on the last hole, hit a drive around 340 yards, and the people I was playing with were saying how amazing it is that we could all still see the ball that far away, and a few of them hit their drives around 240 yards, and I could just make them out ok.

I think the visibility of the yellow is better, but that’s the only difference.
