It looks like it's protected by the finish, nothing to worry about. Even with a raw head, any surface change should be considered like a badge of honor..

Rolled it at mens league and I'm glad it's carbon. It's an awesome soft yet firm feel with a perfect *ping* sound at impact.

It has arrived. Looks even better than I thought it would be. Was worried that i would get it, roll some putts on my putting mat and miss all of them lol, but that didn't happen.

Beautiful.  Wow - they really pushed those tungsten weights to the edge of the head!

I had my fitting today with Jeff. I had already decided no matter what I was probably going with an Anser head and luckily that is what he recommended as well. I went patina finish with shallow milling on the head. I did want to try the pld graphite shaft but after discussing with Jeff went with the stepless steel. Went Ping blackout for the grip. My current gamer was off about 2 degrees in loft and needed to have a flatter lie. I can't wait to see what the final product looks like.

Was looking to do a virtual fitting and amazingly found a time open next week. Very excited.

Anyone know how they determine proper putter length through the virtual fitting?

i didn't do the virtual, i did the in-person. the starting point for figuring out length was wrist to floor, and the Ping chart. i ended up with what the Ping chart recommended, 31.5".

Another question about the fitting: how did they decide on the alignment markings? Is it something they recommend based on your stroke, eye dominance etc? Or is it based on preference?

One reason I'm paying for this premium experience is to have someone actually tell me what will work best as opposed to me thinking I know what I like...

For me, at my in-person fitting, based on my strong arc, Jeff mentioned that long alignment lines for strong arc players can cause issues when they see peripherally that line moving in a big arc (he explained it more eloquently than i just did). after that it came down to preference. however, since it was in-person and he was seeing my stroke and how i aligned and everything live, maybe he would have mentioned more if he had noticed that i was aligning consistently left or right of the hole for example.

I struggle with long lines for that exact reason. The moment I see it tracking off my perceived perfect line I get messed up, which is not a great feeling in the backswing.

Do you happen to know if they can mill the alignment aid over the CG vs. the middle of the head? Something similar to TP Mills. I've found the best feeling strike on my OTR PLD is a touch heel side.

I would think they would be able to.

For anyone who has gone through the whole process, do you know if they offer the grooves? Similar to what is on hovland's putter?

The virtual fitting was awesome. Alex was fantastic and I felt the entire experience was very immersive and complete. We spent a full hour discussing what would work best for me and then designing my putter.

I have done multiple in-person fittings in the past, and I must say that I feel this was the best fitting experience despite the fact that I wasn't there in person. I know some will wonder how that could possibly be true, but that's my hunch. Certainly will find out when the putter is in my hands.

Here's what we came up with:

Kushin 4, Carbon (Dark Patina Finish)

Shallow Milling

Alignment: Dot

360 g

33.5 inches, stepless chrome steel

Lie: 20 degrees

Loft: 3 degrees

Grip: PP58 Midsize blackout

I really, really want to do this!

For the cost of these putters the only issue I have is not being able to put my hands on the putter to feel the weight, feel and see the roll.

Is it possible to determine what a degree or two of loft does to the roll of the ball? Is the lie exactly right or “close enough”? Can they determine if the size of the grip helps or hurts? You can’t really feel the ball to face contact with or without milling without stroking the putter so how do you determine which to choose?

Are these questions answered with a virtual fitting or is it an acclimation of educated guesswork to give you several options?
I really want a fitting but do you add the cost of a trip to Arizona to the already high cost of the putter just to order something that can be done virtually?

Guess the question is; do you feel your new  putter to be an excellent fit, feel, looks and performance and would an in-person fitting gain anything different?
Only time will tell and I hope the best for you. Looking forward to a full review.

This is totally fair. I'll just say that having done multiple in person fittings including Evnroll, Edel and Club Champion I never found those putters to be particularly magical. I'm not expecting this Ping putter to get me on tour.

To that point, I do not think you are using your natural stroke all the time in these fittings. Realize it or not, no matter how good you are, you feel a little pressure when the fitter is watching. The iPing app allows the fitter to collect a lot of relevant data about your stroke/tendencies with you putting in your normal comfort zone--just a thought.

The discussion I had with my fitter and the explanation of the data made a lot of sense knowing my miss tendencies etc.

So, as stated you DO feel as though the virtual fitting was on par or a better experience than in person fittings. Good to hear. Gives me more confidence in proceeding with a virtual.

Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks
