For those that have recently gone through the fitting, has the “glazed donut” finish been offered?

As a lover of Ping putters and donuts, this finish may put me over the edge of ordering one of these once they offer a heel shafted Shea/Piper model.

There was a Shea model on the bay 2 weeks ago...patina finish with a slant neck...

Awesome. I love seeing these customs.

Looks like a lot of tungsten for +10g. Did you have any feedback on where they were placed? Used to seeing them on the face side, at least for the old JWs.

I believe these start at 340 so added +20g.

It showed up about an hour ago. About to head to the course to try it out but looks perfect. Had mid milling done on this one. It is 1 degree flat and 3 degrees of loft. Took some inspiration from JourdanM's putter and had the family's initials added to the tri-sole. 360 gram head.

Can you confirm color of the tungsten plugs? They look tan or copper ish color to me ?    The plugs in mine are silver and Match the stainless finish.

if someone else is in process for fitting I’d love For you to ask this question.  If all plugs are tungsten.  Or if they do aluminum too to reduce weight as well.  Or is it taking on the color of the finish ?

This PLD Kushin 4 is the absolute best putter I have owned. The putter works well with my strong arc stroke.

In my head, I was worried that I might have distance control issues with the heavier head (365 grams). But that hasn't been the case. This combo of head style, weight, site dot only, deep milling, smallest Ping grip, with a stepped steel shaft is just working well.

Played 27 yesterday and over the course of those holes, I made 3 birdies and had 6-7 really good looks that burned edges, not to mention several par saves all thanks tho this putter. The roll that the mid milling puts on the ball is perfect. I feel so comfortable looking at the 2D, and with the stability shaft, I don't see this leaving the bag. Absolutely love it.

They are silver. Probably just the lighting making them look that way.

Had my fitting yesterday! For anyone who’s curious, the new oyster and glazed donut finishes are only available on stainless. I ordered patina carbon, but hope to order an oyster on stainless in a few months.

Good info, thanks! I booked an in person fitting for mid July. I’m expecting to get a Kushin 4 or Anser 4. I posted this Anser 4 earlier in the thread because it caught my eye. Looks like it has oyster finish. 81C925C2-5E21-4A88-94D4-1003738CF795.png.fa1aa5b7cea887f2cedbec7a54485388.png

That finish is slick. Wonder if it wears over time…

I’m hoping they offer the Anser 2D with a flowneck. Always liked my Squareback 1.5 - but hated the insert.

As a lover of Ping putters and donuts, this finish may put me over the edge of ordering one of these once they offer a heel shafted Shea/Piper model.

I did the virtual fitting on June 1st. The finishes were not offered, but I didn't ask about them either.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much info the fitter (in my case Alex) could glean from just the iPing data, and he gave me some suggestions on how I could be improving my roll (I had too much shaft lean and had -5.5* of dynamic loft on impact). Alex presented a menu of options I could choose from, but he strongly recommended I stick to the plumber's neck and slant neck models as I was smack dab in between the slight arc and strong arc stroke metrics. There were a couple of options that seem to be off the menu that are available, and I ended up going with the Anser D instead of the 2D or Kushin (the Anser D is the one on the left in my attached photos vs the 2D on the right) in the patina finish with some engraving customizations. For the alignment aid engravings, it seems like the sky's the limit.

My suggestion to anyone going through the fitting and customization process is to not be shy about asking. If they can't do it, they'll be clear about it, but it seems like they'll accommodate you as much as possible.

Looking forward to getting my putter in hand!

Awesome stuff here, and agreed Alex is the absolute best. He was so helpful throughout the entire process.

I love that anser D.  I wasn't going to go thru the fitting program as I didn't think it was available.  May have to dust off the wallet now tho.  Please keep the pics coming as this progresses.

Good info and nice head shapes there, would be a tough decision especially if they both had slant neck options.

Yeah it seems like they have a bunch of prototype heads lying around that will either become part of the main program or that they offer as a one off. It just wasn't in the initial menu of choices. If I ever go for a second putter I'm going to ask if they can do a Sedona blade putter.

@MattM97 They had the Anser variants in only the plumber's neck as I think the neck is milled together with the head. That said, the Kushin is essentially the Anser 2D, and that comes in the 4 AKA slant neck variant.

Any idea on the headweight options for the anser D? I play a long length putter and always battling headweight getting too high and playing too high of a swing weight.

Oh boo, I'd love an Anser 4D or D4 (what would the Anser with a 4 neck be called anyways), the Kushin 4 isn't bad at all and nice that I can basically just look at the 2021 Kushin 4 as a reference. I'm in no rush to get a PLD, I may wait for more models/options to come along but good to see the popularity of the program Ping should have done this a long time ago.

The fitter told me the 2021 Kushin 4 was longer than the PLD Kushin from face to flange, and that was mainly due to weight as the 2021 Kushin head was lighter due to the difference in materials and construction. They're the same headweight, but the dimensions differe slightly. Just a quick FYI.

@tjhanch I just went with the head weight the fitter recommended me off my iPing data (which was just the base weight). I know making it heavier is easier with the tungsten weights but I have 0 clue on if they can make it lighter. That's something you would have to ask yourself if you get fitted.

I sent an email to their customer service department asking if they’d do a Shea H (heel shafted, like the Piper) and got a definite no, with no current plans to add it, although anything is possible as they continue to expand the program offerings.

Just need a few more of y’all to ask for the same so they know the demand is out there.
