It's not the customization - I had minimal stamping done on the sole, a sight dot on the top line, and a simple satin finish (which they don't do in-house) with blue and white paint fill.  The delay is because the machinist who milled my specific head type was out of the office for an extended period.  It's fine, I've been making do with my Byron 006.  😀

Disagree - getting a putter fitting and/or changing putters won't help your game.  Putting is pretty simple but very difficult to be consistent. If you can get something that makes you more consistent and/or confident, why wouldn't strokes drop off your cap?  Do you feel that way about all fittings?

 

I don’t feel that way at all regarding fittings.

I think golf equipment manufacturers have spent a lot of money convincing people they can buy a solution to their problem that doesn’t involve practicing more. 

And everyone is different some people are going to respond well, others are going to see no benefit.

Gotcha. Interesting they only have 1 guy to do a certain type of putter.  I hope they pay their machinists well.

when i was there at Ping HQ, they made it sound like there was one guy doing the milling. and then there is one guy who does the builds. i had the opportunity to briefly meet both of them and watch their work for a few min.

First, awesome experience with Alex going over my data and preferences. We talked a lot about my game and that helped select some options. I ended up in an Anser 2 proto at 350g in carbon with matte black finish, deep milling, a top line in white, and matte black stepless steel shaft. I kept the sole clean and didn't get any engraving. I wanted it super clean.

The other thing that I love about these putters is that they’re meant to be played. They’re pricey, but it’s a 1 of 1 custom made putter designed to be played by the person who it’s made for. These aren’t wall hangers or collectors to look at.

An Anser w/ a short slant neck and a topline alignment. Sh*t is impossible to find. Believe me, Ive tried. I wish i was willing to pay for PLD.

And for the guys it does drop strokes for it’s even more worth it. What a stupid statement.  Players everyday pick up a putter or a wedge for whatever price that helps their game. You may not believe that but it’s true. I picked up a $19 used putter when I was 18 and won my next college tournament. I picked up a $1200 NCW custom and shot 63 the next day. You do you booo

How firm does the face feel without any milling compared to other putters you’ve tried?

PING PLD Longneck Anser30

“Circle P” S$S, 360g tri-sole, shallow milled. 

Was delivered today and I can’t comment enough on the quality and detail of a custom PLD. 
 

The entire process was well worth the price of admission. 
 

“Big Thanks” to Jeff at PING for making my “Circle P” design a reality. I will definitely be gaming my creation and will most likely design another. 

 

PING takes the customization to a whole new level. 
 

The blackout in the first pic is just my last name but I used the “Circle P” for my first letter in my last name.

They must still be working through the backlog from the machinist's vacation.  I placed my order on June 13 with Alex, and I just was informed it's waiting on one more engraving before finishing (pingman logo).  Super excited and can't wait to get it.  Despite the wait, it's been an incredibly positive experience, and Alex has been top-notch throughout.  Will post pics when it arrives.

Awesome got notification I receive the fitting kit tomorrow and I’m up August 1st. I have a strong idea of what I want but we’ll see how the data goes.
