2022 Chevron Championship

After doing a little Googling. What a shame they are moving this iconic event to (reportedly) the Greater Houston area?! Is this directly due to Chevron taking over as the title sponsor and wanting to move it?

I remember her playing in 2020 US Women's Amateur.  Only reason she lost to a 13 year old is because Chia Yen Wu had a member caddie that knew everything about the course greens.

I think Lauren had her dad as caddie..

 

But Lauren held her head high and took the loss gracefully..  the match went to 12 extra hole and was set as longest match in USGA history.

 

That was 2017, Lauren's been on the LPGA since 2019.

Mission Hills can be penal, but it's not brutal. Bad shots are punished, but good ballstriking leads to good scores. 

 

The median score is currently at even par. Leaders at -6, and bottom of the field at +7.

Still surprised that Gabriela didn't earn a card in Q Series. Short of winning this week, is there any reward for an Epson Tour player finishing high this week?

Mission Hills is an old tired design, I am sorry that the tournament is leaving the venue and the PS area but the Dye design is no longer a major championship venue, I wish they could have found another venue worthy in the Coachella Valley, but that the politics of business. Six under should be the winning score not the round one leaders to be considered a major venue

The Chevron hasn't produced a 6 under or worse winning score since 2007. Only 3 winning scores since 1992 have been 6 under or worse. In the past 10 years only two winners have not shot in double digits under par. 

 

Perhaps you're confusing this major with another event? Scores have remained fairly consistent for over 20 years, so I don't see how the course can be faulted. 

 

Augusta National has produced 11 winning Masters scores of - 10 or better in the past 20 years. 'Guess AN is old and tired, too. Oy.

There’s non-member top 40 at the end of the season. 2nd place wouldn’t be enough but it would help. 
 

Does a top 10 get her in the next event?

Exactly what I was thinking. One of the coolest things about this major/tournament is that it takes place at the same location (see Masters). Makes it iconic IMO. Like The Masters, are the scores lower than in the other majors, yes. Does that take away from the overall experience and enjoyment IMO, no.

The morning bad round is the tough one, you can go low in the afternoon but it much more difficult to do.

Yeah I was hoping for more from InBee and JYK too, given recent good results! (And JYK’s not-so-secret training in the Palm Springs area)
