What club do you have a mental block against?

For me, it's an 8-iron.  Can't hit one to save my life.  No idea why, but I finally took it out of the bag because it was just taking up space and the 7 or 9 were filling in for it.

 

Anyone else have a club they simply can't hit?

Right now it's my trusty 5 iron.  And I need it a bit.

I've been struggling with driver for the last 3 seasons.  I know it's a swing fault, I'm an early extender, but I struggle with blocks and snap hooks.  3w is so much more reliable for me off the tee, lately.

The ~26 degs of loft spot (5i / 5 hyb).  With iron, I can't get past thinking I need to really lean in to achieve sufficient height/spin given my swing speed which leads to inconsistency.  Most hybrids at that loft tend toward ballooning (and less reliable azimuth control).  Consequently, I tend toward squeezing my cheeks on 6i or choking up on 22 deg hybrid when confronted with that distance.

Driver all my life.  I go through hot and cold streaks.  My miss is the dreaded duck hook or the push fade due to my over active wrists/hands.

Currently all of them.  I bought them used and I really think they are to short which I think is causing me some issues.  Not blaming them for everything wrong at the moment.

Driving irons. I try a few out every season for no other reason than I see people on youtube (I am impressionable) talk about them like they are the easiest things to hit. For me, they are not. Low left and weak right all day.

 Currently it's the 50* , if I leave myself from 120 to 125 out I instinctively piss myself at this point. Last summer it was one of my best friends, now, not so much. There's almost always a traitor in my employ, for years it was anything between 5 iron and 5 wood, roughly 200 yards was a revolving spot in my bag . Funny that there's always one.....

Driver.  I can hit it on the range but not on the course.  I top most of my drives on the course.  

It is the only club in my bag that makes me want to change my swing.

Driver…played yesterday and hit 10 of 14 fairways with it. That is great except the 4 misses were 1 pond and OB twice left and I got inside my own head afraid of the pull hook that had got me already and hit it dead straight but had aimed way right and landed in another pond. Eight penalty strokes, just kills me and I am good for at least two drives like that every time I play. It’s killing me in a very slow death type manner.

Lob wedge. I have one shot with it-a screaming line drive six feet off the ground that goes until it hits something.

3 Wood. I won't even use it off tee anymore so it only comes out on that rare occasion where it's the only club that can give me the distance window I need from the fairway or first cut. And even then I must have a perfect lie. Funny thing I don't even it that bad, usually get good results, but I just have this vision of horrible mishits that makes me mostly refrain from using it.

5 iron so I dropped it from bag and playing a 5 hybrid instead.

9 iron on a Par 3 for no good reason. Usually a pull hook OB when this happens.  Totally a mental block for me and ruins a good round. I can hit this club in any other scenario on the course/range with no issues. Maddening… This past weekend I choked down on a 8 iron to avoid ruining a good front nine.

I've never been able to hit a driving iron. I really like the concept and idea of having one in the bag but I just get more consistency out of a hybrid.

Whatever club I’m holding right after a shank.  But other than that a tight R to L par 4.  Prospect of drawing a golf ball makes me wanna take up bowling.  High power fades only please.
