12 month old news. What’s the new info to suggest this is still true?

It's ongoing. Personally, it's a waste of time.

..........."Even if a deal is struck this spring, the PGA Tour's alliance with the PIF might not take effect until late 2025 or 2026 at the earliest. The U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division has opened an investigation into the PGA Tour's alleged antitrust behavior, and it wouldn't be closed simply because the former competitors are now partners. Antitrust experts previously told ESPN that a DOJ review could take as long as 18 months.'

Where is the quote from and when?  ESPN was "previously told" 12 months ago, as I said.  Yep, waste of time.

Edit: Found the quote - you might provide citations. There is nothing about any DOJ anything currently holding anything up - that’s just an ESPN writer speculating that if they reach an agreement it may be subject to review which in turn may take time.

What "anti trust behavior"?

And whatever it is,  how does it compare with overtly attempting to crush competition and harm a long standing domestic enterprise by acting in an economically irrational manner using sovereign wealth?

It all goes back to what we said years ago.  Players are going to rue the day they pursued all these dollars because they don't come without strings attached.  They will lose control their schedules, what events they want to play, what other interactions they chose to do, etc.

Yet Phil think all pro golfers should be thanking him. It was a short-sighted selfish move and they managed to convince a number of players to do the same.

I personally think his outfits look horrible. The only reason I get him a slight pass, is the Spanish heritage. Spain is a brightly colored place and it kinda fits with the culture. Other than that, they look bad to me

Do you think Yasir feels like he’s getting his money’s worth out of Phil, DJ, Cam Smith, and Rahm at this point?  DJ got a whole lot of cash to look disinterested in golf.

I think they took the guys who were the most household names that were willing to go.

I ran through the names of the LIV guys a while back vs the top 50 PGA tour players and she knew more of the LIV guys. Not saying that means they are better or worse, just that they’re names that a more casual fan may have heard. But obviously that shifts over time as guys come up or fade…

Oh, I agree.  The went for name recognition for most of the field, but there were a number of guys they still thought were top players that haven’t panned out and don’t appear to be too concerned about it.  That would sting if I were the PIF.

You might want to take that up with the DOJ. Like I said, it's a waste of time.

Thats the b~<ch of sports contracts. You throw money at someone based on past performance but that doesn’t always correlate to future success. They are certainly getting a first hand view of that with some of their players.

In his press conference an hour ago, Bryson said he wanted a merger “fast.” Why? Why did you go to LIV and now want a merger? Wasn’t LIV the new thing and you didn’t want to be a part of the stale PGA Tour?

These guys aren't stupid.  They know this LIV experiment isn't working.  But if I'm a rank and file PGA member I'd be incensed if these guys get to come back with no penalties.

The players who didn’t leave and could have want financial or other penalties which PIF/LIV won’t want to accept. Some LIV players don’t want to come back, but those by and large are the players whose best years are behind them and just want a big pay day while offering almost nothing that benefits LIV. But the PGA Tour sponsors are getting increasingly frustrated at the recent TV ratings and will demand action sooner than later.

Which is why I don't see a merger happening or any agreement going places because thats at the heart of the dispute.  My idea is have these guys forfeit a lot of their remaining LIV funds that haven't been paid out and they can play for it in a tournament.  It's already a clown show so imagine Bryson surrendering his money and having to play a bunch of PGA guys to get it back.

Why? They added no value to LIV

Worse, they are losing LIV/PIF billions. LIV won’t even spend on Friday TV golf because it’s too expensive and the ratings are worthless. The players are giving them nothing!

The tour should have the framework now to take care of the players they need to IMO. The guys like Rory, Fowler, Thomas, Scheffler whomever. They can issue the "shares" now in the merged companies. Any merger with LIV they could offer more shares to those guys to compensate them

I doubt the PGA guys want the LIV guys "punished" as much as they just want their own pile of cheddar that is somewhat comparable.

I don't think they will care about the guys ranked 68th on the PGA tour, or the bottom of the LIV barrel guys. The lower ranked tour players will be told to shut up and the lower ranked LIV guys will be made an example of and play their rest of their pro golf on the Bolivian Liga De Golf Profesional

I'd guess as with most things the top guys will be fine. I've said in the past i'm not even sure of the legalities of punishing people for leaving after a merger that had an antitrust stench. They probably want to avoid that look. LIV guys will keep their money and top PGA guys will get more shares, at least that's what i think
