PXG - Buy Now or wait for black friday?

Recommended Posts

I need a new set of woods, 1-3-5 but only recently started shopping. Looking at the PXG website and eyeing a Gen 4 set, it looks like good prices but I understand that they are always on sale. I'm wondering if anyone knows if there's any or much difference if I buy now or wait 2 months for black Friday? Waiting is not a problem but I'd rather get them now if they BF discounts aren't worth waiting for.

PXG runs a lot of sales, but sure they will go much lower.   Only concern would be the Gen 4 line is being phased out, so if you want a matching set they might not be there much longer.  Another thing to take into account will they still have the shaft you want.  There are still supply issues on some shafts.

Get them now. Last year's BF sale wasn't anything special. Mostly took away the mark-up on the extreme dark finishes. Plus with their 60 day return policy, they'll most likely credit you any difference if it changes within the period.

Gen3 irons are $99 w/free shipping.  Can't beat that.

I just ordered 5-P.  G wedges are sold out for XP and P models, which is a small downer.

One day late, but got my irons.  Ordered -1/2", and 2 degrees weak.  They are beautiful, but swingweights are all C6.5, other than the PW which is a couple of points higher.  I didn't think it would be necessary to tell them to adjust the swingweight to a "normal" level when building clubs to a shorter than standard length.  Customer service basically told me to return the clubs if I don't like them.  I was surprised by this approach.  What I was hoping for was for an offer to add heavier weights in the back of the head to increase swingweight.  Guess not.  When pressed, they said they could likely get the swingweight up a couple of points using weights, but that would just get them to C9 at best.  They said I should return this set and order again, with the request to increase swingweight.  I don't get it.

Figures…I ordered an 0811 two days ago 😂

Called and within 10 min I had my order from yesterday canceled, driver re-ordered at reduced price and added two 0341x fairways. This is my first time trying out pxg but I’m thinking for the price I won’t be disappointed and who doesn’t love an experiment. I also couldn’t be more confident that if If I have any issues they will take care of me.

School me on 0211 and 0341 fwy’s and which one do I need. Been out of the game a minute and want to experiment. Leaning towards 0341 with the hazardous yellow for low spin and launch.

I think it more depends on how much you want to tinker.. think Taylormade Stealth vs Stealth+, you get the moveable weight in the + but if you never move it around, it doesn't do much for you.

0341 has 2 weights vs 0211 has only 1. Technically you can tune the flight more with 0341 than  you would with 0211. Honestly I haven't moved the weights in my fairway woods since Taylormade M1. I haven't touched the weights in 0341 either so this time I am getting a 0211 with a different shaft to try so I can swap them around.

I haven't hit 0211 fairway so can't say if it's lower spin than 0341.

I went with the 0341x for the adjustability. PXG told me it would be a little hotter and longer but I took that with a grain of salt. For the money I’m sure I’ll be fine. Got the hzrdus yellow in 70 for each.

Yeah I think you can't go wrong with either. I am experimenting with a 5 wood for the first time so I am going to try with the cheaper one. LOL

I have been playing 0341 with Diamana 70x all year and have been so happy with it that I have a Sim2 Rocket that has not made it out of the door even once.

For those who've hit both, is there a huge difference between the 0211 vs the 0811XF?  Interested in both, but the price point of the 0211 is super tempting!

My advice is if you're interested in something Gen4, they're not coming back...

That's my thoughts as well.  Clearly they are going to have an 0211 Gen2 driver and fairway to coincide with the iron release since they just dropped the prices on these to obscene levels and the half the hybrids and 1/3rd of the fairways are already sold out.  The 0211 DC and ST irons are like vultures picking at the bones of a corpse, only a few sporadic heads left.  My guess, is there is going to be a Gen2/XCOR wood and hybrid launch shortly.  The Gen-series irons have pretty much followed a 12-14 month release cycle.  It wouldn't shock me to see a Gen 6 announced for the PGA Show.  That would mean Gen4 is going to go on super close out and Gen5 will be slashed to 40%.  They are taking a Nike approach to the market, once a new item is out, kill the old one fast.  I never understood why TM, Callaway, and Cobra hold on to their old models for so long and refuse to slash the prices.  You can walk into any big box store and still see a handful of Mavrik or original SIM woods kicking about.  Heck, you could probably find an Epic Flash or M5/M6 if you looked hard enough. Just blow it out, and PXG does it right, IMO.

Wow never even noticed that they are completed out of right handed 0211ST. I wonder if they are going to just consolidate ST lines into the single 0317 model. I am still trying to wrap my head around why 0317 got split out of Gen 5 lineup

That's what I have.. it's very good. The impact is a different feel from the Betti's that I am use to so took a while to get use to.

I think the last round of fire sale they had the Battle Ready ones down to ~230 so perhaps it'll get there again as we get closer to holiday.
