New spiders for 2023

The Spider GT and TP collection is on sale where I live. Anyone know what’s coming to replace it and when we might see it?

Definitely something new coming in late February to early march. Some good changes to an already good line of putters, that’s all I can say

The SpiderX with a slant neck was so good for me that I own 3 just for when one gets chipped up. I wish the paint held up better. That was my only complaint. I didn’t think the last two iterations were great but I’m always up for seeing what they will come up with next. I spent a bunch of money on a custom PLD and this still stayed in the bag. Looking forward to seeing what’s to come.

The gt model didn't get enough love, imo. It's the best putter they've made, better than the spider tour. 

 

Not sure if it was the messaging around the putter or not but it under performed in sales compared to how good it was. I don't feel like TM ever solidly marketed it as a 7 style putter. But that's exactly what it was and it had the benefit of simple top side alignment. 

 

Only bad part, the plumber's neck didn't have enough toe hang.

Agreed. Most of the pros being in the older spiders doesn't help either.

Maybe it’s not possible with the spider design but I always felt TM was missing out on those who need 40-50 toe hang that want a spider. I would switch to one in a second if it existed

Hard to get that much toe hang and stay high moi. You have to get high moi via heel/toe to keep CoG forward. You can get high moi that way but you can't match moi of heavy back heel/toe weighted designs. 

 

But that why you're seeing multi material bodies like what pxg is doing. Aluminum body and tungsten weights. Allows for high moi designs while keeping headweight "normal".

Completely agree. I suppose it all depends on what feel you prefer but for my feels, I agree.

The Hydroblast double bend version for me was outstanding. Like a typical golf fool I sold it and tried something else. I’ve been rolling them again when I visit golf shops. I’m thinking of buying another.

Heard from a buddy today that they are bringing out one model that’s gonna be around the 450-500 price range and the others more where they’ve been.

 

Wonder what tech might justify a price higher than Scotty and Bettinardi. Dare I hope for a milled putter?

I've heard moveable weight technology in one of the new lines.  That would likely explain pushing it into a higher pricepoint.

All kidding aside, probably to adjust toe hang or place weight behind the strike would make sense

I would like to see another color.  Red is not my thing.  I would be curious to see neon yellow (ball color) and a black version.

Just release the putter(s) we all want and have been asking for ? surely TM see this thread among others and see our feedback? the last GT line and that monstrosity above are just a complete step/jump back.

If TM would’ve released this color with the short slant I’d be gaming one. I love the finish just not the long slant that was released to retail.

The new Spider has moveable weights. Three positions, front weights the MOI is similar to the GT, middle is the Spider Tour and the back is the equivalent of the Daddy Long Legs. Sounds pretty cool.

I really want to like the spiders, but the feel of the insert is hard for me for distance control. Just feels a little dead.  The hydroblast feels a little better.  The GT feels pretty good as well.  I do like the GT notchback.
