Wow! So this IS the 4th gen P790, right? 

 

Any info on if they kept lofts the same?
I am thinking towards buying a set of P790s this autumn  But if TM made the lofts stronger I might consider ordering earlier, or even wait for a set of used gen 3…

Yes, this is the 4th generation of the P790s.  The fitting heads should be at the fitters in the next week or two.  They get released the first week of September.  No info on specs and the tech inside the heads yet.

Any idea when these will hit fitters like Miles of Golf or Carls Golfland? Pulling the trigger on a new set of irons and the two frontrunners are T200s and the P790s... seems dumb to go get fitted, end up with P790s, and then a new set comes out a week later.

 

Miles said embargo is Sept. 1st and they hope to have them by mid to late August.

the current version of the 790s are amazing.  I tried to hate on them but after using them a few rounds I was like wow these are forgiving and awesome.

 

The 100S have been on the bench for a few rounds now.

I am perfectly satisfied (for me that is saying something) with my current P790 with Mitsubishi MMTs since Jan.

Hit the new ones today....I can say this is definitely the best since the 2019 version.  I think they may have taken a hair of the offset out, but they perform fantastic

Interesting, looks like progressive tungsten weighting, likely throughout a set which would support something like a P760 refresh.

Actually now that I take a closer look, it looks like it could be a progressive design in the new 790’s… top pic is the 5 iron, bottom pic is the PW

My mates a TM rep and I got to see and hit them today. In respect to my mate I won’t give any trade secrets, but…

 

If I’m being, I’m not a massive fan of TM irons, but for me, they have got the looks from address bang on (PW, 7, 4). It’s just right from every angle like top line, offset, blade length. And in all fairness, they sound and feel great, I was especially impressed by the 4 iron.

 

I’m currently in some Mizuno 223s, swing around 92mph with a 7 iron and have a negativ attack angle.

Me personally no, but I’m not really in the players distance category, that’s the only reason. 
 

im looking forward to fitting with them though and I think they will be really easy to combo

You should have a negative attack angle on irons. Driver, all the longest drivers on tour share one thing a +4 degree or greater attack angle.

Lofts are determined by the desired launch window. Manufacture, tungsten location, center of gravity being lower dictate the lofts to be stronger. BTW this not TM thing or a marketing ploy. All the manufacturers do it on certain models and player & Iron profiles.....any club can be ordered stronger or weaker lofts, of course some shafts can bring down the launch a degree or two.

If you look at the Golfer review, the new 790 has lower spin than the prior ver and even lower than the Stealth iron!  Not what I would want.
