Tsi3 and Tsr3

Has anyone found that they actually prefer the Tsi3 to the newer Tsr3?

I actually meant from a performance perspective, not cosmetically. I agree with your assessment of the appearance. 
 

Maybe I’m just used to my Tsi3, but swinging the Tsr it didn’t feel as good to me. That obviously subjective, and wanted to see if anyone else has had similar experiences.

I have both clubs in a 8*.    Distance is negligible but I feel the TSR is a little better in the forgiveness category and sounds more muted.

For me, TSI3 face feels more springy (feeling of ball staying longer on the face) whereas TSR3 feels more harder (ball shoots off right at impact). 
 

Maybe it has to do with diamond laser etching on the face. 
TSI3 is smooth whereas TSR3 is rough.

I will agree with the guys here, I hit both at my local shop, i am not the best ball striker, that said, I have some speed to my swing 112-115, I had a hard time finding a massive difference between with both heads, I have to say that the R3 was a bit more accurate on mishits, I mean 1-2 yards offline vs 2-3 with the i3, distance wise, they were almost identical with a +/- of 3.7 yards...I was using the Ventus Black TR 6X...I think that if you want the new shiny stuff go for it, do you need it?, probably not, but this is GolfWRX, so you definitely need it!!!...lol

They feel about the same. Tsr took me a bit to get used to but I do feel it is a little more forgiving. I would've stayed with tsi but an idiot mark combined with ocd pushed me over the edge to get a tsr.

Really liked both of them, but bought the TSr 3.  A little more ball speed on slightly off center strikes, but especially low in the face.  I also prefer the more muted sound.  

 

I believe the TSr 2 is where a huge improvement occurred.  TSi was unplayable for me.  TSr 2 almost won my fitting.

Eye of the beholder...you may not see it the same way as me. 

 

But, it's the best looking 3w I've seen in a really long time. It just didn't beat my rogue st ls on numbers.

TSi3 to TSR4 in driver, looks better, sounds better, more forgiving, best looking head out there.

 

I did go TSR2 for my 7w , as it is only option, but would not swap out my TSi3 3/5 woods, perfection

As a TSi3 driver player I bought the TSR2 driver.  The TSR3 driver wasn't enough different from the TSi3 which I already own, and the TSR2 was leaps and bound better than the TSi2.  I play a 44.75" Ventus Black S tipped 1/2" at D3.5 in a 10 degree head dialed to C1, both drivers the same.  The TSi3 is better if you need to work the ball left and right and the TSR2 is better if you just want to hit a slight draw and guarantee the resulting fairway hit.  The TSR2 is harder for me to play cut shots than the TSI3.  Both are so close in distance to make my decision on how far they travel.

 

The TSR fairway woods: TSR3 - it is better than the TSi3 but the TS3 is still the winner.  TSR2 - the TSi2 feels better but looks worse.  The TSR2 looks more open faced probably due to the paint line changes but still has the look.  They do launch higher in a good way.  I play a 43" Ventus Black S tipped 3/4" at D3.5.  I first tried the 15 degree and dialed it mostly at A1, B1, D1, and C1.  I liked it better than the TSi2 but ended up getting the TSR2+ and LOVE IT!  My concern was getting a high enough launch off the fairway.  You do need to trap the ball instead of just sweeping the ball to get the high launch but it is there.  So far I have only played it dialed to A1 and B1.  Since the TSi2 is draw biased, I have always preferred the B1 or C1 setting with a more upright takeaway instead of a flatter takeaway.  The TSR2 and TSR2+ takes some of the draw bias away but it is still slightly there.  You can cut the ball with the TSR2 or TSR2+ which I could never do with the TSi2.  The main reason I ended up with the TSR2+ instead of keeping the TSR2 is the ability to get a lower loft when needed because it still gets a nice higher launch (as long as you trap the ball on contact).  Off the tee the TSR2+ is KILLER!  Off the deck it is slightly longer than the TSR2 but rolls out marginally more due to the slightly lower launch window (13 versus 14.25).

 

I do own a TSi2 21 degree fairway wood but don't have any experience to share against the TSR2 21 degree.  I am still switching between my TSi2 21 degree dialed to C1 and my TSi2 18 degree hybrid dialed to A1.  TSI2 21 fairway wood launched higher but the TSi2 18 hybrid is longer.  If you need "drop and stop" there is no question the 21 fairway wood is the answer.

 

12/13/22 - Now I have an 18 degree TSR2 fairway wood w/Ventus Black 7s tipped 1", at D3.5.  It seems to fit nicely below my TSR2+ and my T100s 3 iron as far as carry numbers.  I do like that it is much easier to cut than the TSi2.  It's a keeper.

I upgraded from TSi3 to TSR3, but mainly because I got a stupid deal at Dicks.  Have no complaints about TSi3.  TSR3 did give me better #s on mishits, but not by that much.  

 

TSR2 had better #s than TSR3 on mishits, but as others have noted, its more difficult to work the ball.  So many courses around here require a fade with the driver, and TSR2 kept turning over.

Been fitted for driver and fairway by Titleist. 
Still have my TSi3 driver in my bag (the difference  was so slim for the price) but got the TSr2 fairway in a hurry. Easier to launch and more forgiving than my previous fairway wood. (Callaway XR pro). I normally don’t change fairway wood easily.

The roughness coming from laser etching are different.

I honestly didn’t see much of a difference between the two to justify upgrading. My ball speed was 2 mph more on avg with the Tsr3 but it was only getting a couple more yards of roll out. Maybe it was the familiarity of my current Tsi3, but I was much more consistent.

I dont know if it was just me? I hit both indoor and thought the i3 felt better and sounded quieter then r3.

I think the r is supposedly a touch more forgiving and aero dynamic.

That is what I am seeing too. Its hard to find much a major difference between the two. Just comes down to more of a look/feel thing because there isn't any performance trade off

What deal were you able to get from Dicks Sporting Goods? Haven't seen any and looking to upgrade.

@Zonazoo, it wasn't a deal that Dicks was offering officially.  They screwed up working on 2 of my shafts and gave me store credit.  And then gave me a good trade-in on a few things as extra compensation.  And I had some "Dicks bucks" saved up. And I think their system screwed up on the shaft upgrade.  So end of the day, I paid < $300 out of pocket for what looked like a $900 TSR3 + shaft combination.  Didn't need it, but couldn't turn it down.

 

Go onto their website and see what they are offering in trade-in. The trade-in might be less than what you could get on BST, but who knows how long it would take to actually sell it on BST...

Nothing wrong with the Tsi3.
 

I swapped, but mostly because I like new drivers.  

I agree with the guy about who mentioned it feels little hotter.

After reading a couple reviews here I bought the TSR3 head and have been testing it against the TSI3 head, same shafts - I was fit into the TSI3 in March. Honestly so far, I'd have a hard time finding any differences - at the range at least. They both look great. SS is the same with both (110-112). Sound is about the same. If you blindfolded me, *maybe* the TSR3 sounds a little better...maybe...but we're talking about the range in December here and if its better, its a fraction. Will get a couple hours in the simulator this weekend to take a look at the actual numbers but at this rate I'd be stunned to see a huge difference either way. I absolutely love the TSI3 too so, it would have to be pretty eye opening at this point for me to want to switch.

ive been switching back and forth from TSi2 to TSi3 to TSR2 to TSR3, I finally have decided on TSi3 because it is more reliable.  My next purchase to attempt to dethrone the TSi3 will be a TSR4

 

TSR3 may be a few yards longer but it has less control, i probably prefer the face angle on the TSi3, as for feel and sound, I cannot tell any difference.

TSR2 should be better for most people.  It is set up to give more consistent #s across the face(toe to heel, and top to bottom).  

 

That being said, if you consistently hit the same spot all the time, with TSR3 you could move the weight behind that impact position, which shifts the "hot zone" in that direction and may make the 3 better for you. 

 

I'd try both just to see.
