Not sure why or what the deal is but he also dropped the Boss logo. 
 

Have a feeling Titliest drop the payout and made him a normal Titliest Pro where you get bonuses with placement.

That sucks if that's true... especially when he's worked so hard to climb up to #5 in the OWGR

Yeah.  I talked to some folks on the LPGA and PGA in the last few weeks that were unhappy with Titleist upper management.  The support they were giving their tour staff was unacceptable. 

 

I was making a joke about him trying any new club.  Seems like everything in his bag is from 2018.

Very strange seeing new clubs in Cantlay’s bag.

Wonder if the new Driver sticks or he goes back to old faithful at the first sign of trouble.

A lot of guys fresh off contracts seem to go to Ping drivers. Says a lot about Pings quality and performance

I don't think you would be too happy if you were Titleist though, paying him top dollar to promote their clubs when he still plays old stuff. Doesn't do that much for the brand really! His entire bag was older gear..

Very true! But I don't think a majority of golf fans are diehard gear heads like us lol. Regular folks only see the Titleist staff bag and the TSR headcover on TV and don't know he's still using a TS3 or 915F etc.

Great points all made. Years ago I ran into Cink at Reynolds Plantation when he was still with TM. They have their Kingdom there and sick courses. 
He said TM pushes hard. Like really hard.  Why DJ, Sergio, Day, Rory and others always have all the new gear. 
While many of the Titliest team play older gear but different contracts from my understanding. 
Either way very interesting when Cantlay is still prevalent in top 10.

Lead tape on the 60 looks perfection however. 

 

Also Ping drivers sound horrific and I would like them removed from the tour.

That's what I've deciphered out of all these reviews from each driver. Seems like the 430 lst isn't losing much, if any, distance to the other low spin drivers but it's the most forgiving of the bunch. Seems like a good combo and now that it doesn't sound like a softball bat, more folks are interested.

Word is he is bouncing to LIV soon. And with that has gotten difficult to work with. So he has been dropped by a few companies.. Total rumor, but I have heard it.

Yep, I've basically been told its G425 forgiving and Stealth long.

Agree 100%, I’ve thought the same thing every time I see one of his WITB’s.

 

Has to be very tough to drop a player who is that good and in the prime of his career. But the example I think of is what if a Basketball player endorsed by Nike wore shoes that came out 5-6 yrs ago? Or a tennis player endorsed by a racket company used an outdated model?

 

Tough for OEM’s to say with a straight face that they’ve made massive gains in technology and design if one of their marquee athletes is using equipment with 2018 technology.

I've heard even less than you likely have, but can't help but wonder what "gotten difficult to work with" might mean.

 

I can imagine that specific to Cantlay's case, with a couple of his endorsement deals up he could be the test case for a new way of doing things.

 

For example, sponsors are paying for exposure in TV, media, etc.   As it stands today a LIV player is getting less, so any potential sponsors may insert clauses based on where a player is playing.

 

Furthermore, a lot of sponsor deals come with things beyond just sporting a logo.   Outings, ad shoots, etc, all take varying degrees of time.    I suspect that for a lot of guys that are going to LIV, when they say they get extra time and less travel it could be that they no longer feel like they have to do these things.

He has like one current gen Titleist club in his bag, the rest are extremely outdated by golf standards. Over 2-3 cycles old.

Interesting. Find it hard to believe Titleist isn't 100% supporting staff players to play their best.  I do believe other OEM's probably bend over backwards/kiss arse more, so maybe it's a matter seeing comrades receiving more love.
