New Odyssey Ai-One putters - 2023 Shriners Children's Open

If people can get and understand the tech story. Why would anyone buy a Scotty other than to say. “I roll a Scotty”… this is potentially either amazing marketing or if it works ground breaking putter tech. I don’t know the answer there yet.

Well I figure just like the Toulon’s, there will be every limited tour uptake of the milled version, like basically none compared to 100s of scottys. So people see Scotty as a premium tour putter and normal white hot odyssey as a tour proven putter.

so if and when the milled AI becomes taken up by all the staff then it might sustain a premium price, but launching at retail with premium price with  no take up, I’m not sure.

Drank the kool-aid and picked up a DW. Like the fact I will be able to purchase additional weights later.

Don’t know what’s going on with their quality control though. Jeez

Love the weights on this new line.  Is that a ding or a puncture?  I would return in fear of rusting if indeed punctured.

Saw someone mention different weights being available.  Anyone know if it will be possible to make these around 340 grams?

I'm sorry (not sorry) but the window thing looks totally ridiculous from up close. Haha. I can see where it would have been a cool idea in the meeting when you're brainstorming ideas, but then somebody's gotta step up and say "Naw, that's an interesting concept but we ain't actually gonna put a window on a putter head."

Agree. Also someone mentioned if moisture gets in. Thats intresting. Im sure they might have not thought about that just like all the drivers crackin with each company lol next batch will have an airtight window with weightless hydro seal goop to make sure no moisture gets in and improves distance and line by 5%.

Sorry, I thought it would look stupid too but it’s actually one of the coolest parts of the white hot line. It just makes it look high tech and modern, especially the 1 and double wide where it’s in the cavity. It looks so good I think they actually screwed up not having it on the milled line too.

Rolled the Milled 7 for most of a round yesterday. Wife has a 7 OG. I say most because after she rolled it for a couple holes, it went straight into her bag.Never touched it after that. waiting for my custom Ai Rossie now.

I saw no appreciable difference between my Spider Tour in performance. Feel is a tie May go grab another for me today. I feel the Tech is real but on a large, tricky Tiff Eagle green, mid round, it’s on me to roll it right (duh?!)

Rolled 10-15 putts with the AI one double wide DB yesterday. I play the current DB Eleven with the white hot insert.

Feel wise the new face is SO much nicer! Rolled amazing. Will definitely be picking this putter up with my pro shop credit from this season and put it in play for next season.

Personal opinion: Callaway has no idea how to market their stuff. Nothing is more gimmicky than slapping “AI” in the actual name of the putter and putting a window in it so people can see the “amazing tech”. Not to mention the lame grip on a $450 putter. You can’t put the same grip that comes on your $200 line of putters on your premium milled line.

I would probably have pulled the trigger on one of the milled options if it wasn’t for the name and the grip. Should that matter enough to stop me from buying? Probably not. Maybe I still will for half the price in a few months. But this release feels like walking into a used car dealership and having the guy who stinks like cigarettes wearing the oversized suit try to sell me a 12 year old car with 140k miles that has been through their 3,000 point inspection twice.

I’m sure not everyone will agree with this take. But I’m a “less is more” kind of guy.

I have the Spider Tour V, the Ai-One Milled 8 TS, and the Ai-One 7s right now. I think the Ai-One models to offer some added consistency in terms of ball speed when you miss the center of the face. I love the stability of the Tour V and it has a great balance through the stroke, might be a hair better than my Milled 8 TS. Feel on the Spider Tour is a little firmer then even the Ai-One Milled, with the Ai-One being the softest of the 3.

Did you or anybody else get a chance to try the GT Max, with the sliding weights? Would love to know whether it’s basically the same feel-wise as the Spider Tours or where it slots in in this comparison.

Agree with this.  But look at the success they had with jailbird?  A putter that wasn’t popular ten years ago for less than half the price was all the rage for 400 dollars.  You could have picked up a mint used one for 80 bucks 8 months ago.

Us golfers as a fickle bunch.

Eeekk is that issue with the window on the outside or inside of it? I can believe the steel kinked like that…..

I'm absolutely loving my 6 T DB milled putter. Going to swap out the grip (I'm with some others on this, the stock stinks) but the feel and looks really feel like a "premium" putter, as it should at that price point. I have loved the Toulon designs for years but the face always felt a bit firm to me

That's the Ai face, like the drivers the face has different thicknesses to accommodate golfers' strike patterns, we can't see the inside of the driver (I look forward to seeing a see through sole chamber with the Epic Clear), but they're empathizing it with the putters, as visible tech has rack appeal. Unless you go to far and give your putters away six months after launch.

The shaft is faulty, hopefully the owner will get a new one.

Ordered the AI Milled Eleven T with Black steel shaft at 26". Put a SS 2.0 XL on it and it feel GREAT! Best way I can describe this AI Milled face is the near middle between and fulling milled putter (Scotty, Betti) and the White Hot insert. If they release an Eleven head with the new WH insert, I'm almost buying that.

I've been a 2-ball (Ten and Eleven) lover. The triple alignment on the Eleven T with the smaller "mini" head is a great combo so far. Body seems a little deeper too, but that might just be my perception.

Excited to get this on the course!

I did first test the Double Wide AI One with the SL90 shaft. BHit about 2-300 putt with it. Shaft felt perfectly fine, and I liked it more than the previous versions of the SL shafts.

I tend to always go heavier head weight with no counterweight though, so I didn't love the weight in the grip. I typically order my odyssey putters with steel chafts and then install Stability tour shafts, then get heavier weights.

But overall, I much prefer the new SL90 shaft to the previous versions.
