Curious if there are any of her recent carry distance numbers to compare to the typical PGA player.

Hard to know just based on tv (wind, temperature, elevation changes, etc), but I think she's been around 160 mph ball speed quite often.  She's averaged 270+ 9 out of the last 10 seasons.  Probably carrying it 250-260 comfortably.

It'll be interesting to see if she can generate enough spin on her longer clubs to stop on the greens. Playing from the PGAT tees, she's going to have longer shots into the greens than she's used to, and the greens themselves will be firmer and less receptive than the LPGA greens. I'm super excited to see how she does.

Those iron shafts are the most surprising thing to me; especially with how fast her transition is and how steep and aggressive she is into the ball.

I'm following this closely as well.  Lexi is different from when Annika and Michelle Wie did the same.  Lexi has played the tips most of her life with her brothers, who have both played professionally.  The big question mark any week with her is the putter.  It can be atrocious at times.

Agreed.  If she could figure out putting, she would be in a different category of player.

Interesting combo

And lofted lowwwww.  Is the 8 sticker on her driver what her target is?  Or is the loft on that head, that she dumps another degree and a half off with the adapter?

Definitely a "different" kind of bag from what we usually see in WITB.

I believe with Cobra the sticker lofts are showing the lowest possible setting, so it would be a 10.5* head that actually measures 9.5* in "STD". Take Gary Woodland's Aerojet for example that says "6.5" on the sticker. It's a 9* head that he plays in "STD" so if i'm right it's actually 8* that he effectively plays, which makes sense for him. Not 100% on that though.

They're not though.  This would be similar to saying that a DG X100 feels just like an S300

Not really, X100 and S300 are the same weight but have different step patterns to make the X100 stiffer. Project X (as far as I am aware and def most if not all KBS shafts) are the same taper profile but with different wall thicknesses which account for the weight difference and in theory flex difference.

I am like the poster you replied to, I can't feel that much difference in flex between shafts that only vary wall thickness. Weight is obvious difference and effects swing tempo etc but ball flights seem quite similar to me unless the weight difference is huge, I just find a profile and weight I like. Where as if I go from R300 to X100 there is a huge difference in ball flight spin etc. Good example of similar scenario is a pro like Jim Furyk using R+ flex KBS shafts and has done for several years. Think he hard steps them but by 'stiffness' they should be way too soft for him in theory, but theory doesn't always work.

Those S2 irons are crazy. A great period for Cobra irons, of course. Their last days under Achushnet.

I can't imagine where they dug those things up.

she has played the S2 irons ever since they came out.

Wow, really?

I'd love to know more about how that worked out. One would figure at least 3 - 5 sets over that time?

Would be interested to know how she maintains her supply of heads.

I guess the stamping/forging dies might have been part of the deal when File acquired them.

Respect - whatever the process - that allows them to keep giving her what she likes.

I remember getting my set way back when they came out.  They were the largest fully forged iron back in the day.  I didn't like the soles. They were a bit big for me but for her they work great due to her steep angle of attack.

Maybe in a better position than those who tried before her, but don't you think she's still at a (noticeable?) disadvantage?  What you state above is one of the reasons she hits it as far as she does.  But she's still giving up some speed vs her competitors this week.

I guess maybe she's not that far off from some of the shorter hitters on tour (I guess you would know better than most)?  They don't dominate but can be competitive every now and then.  I do remember Lexi hit some shots out of the rough at Olympic and I was thinking I'm not sure there's anyone else this week that can do that.

Anyways, we'll all see.  Two rounds anything can happen (not sure how this course sets up as well).  Hopefully, she's at least reasonably competitive vs. the cut.
