Played a course a few times that had dollar dogs, dollar a hole golf and dollar beers on Fridays.  Those were elite dogs and it may have only been partly due to the beers.

Hopefully this counts: the burger dog at Silverado Country club in Napa. It can also be had at Olympic club which I haven't even sniffed the entrance.

I'm no snob.  I am a fan of gas station roller dogs - at any time of day.  If you duck hunt you eat all kinds of trash gas station food and get grub from whatever is open at 3 or 4am.

 

I can't recall a specific course but so long as the bun is fresh and sized appropriately for the dog  I can go with just about any of them.  I don't want a ginormous dog on a "normal" sized bun where the bun splits apart and the condiments go everywhere.  Conversely, don't want a giant bun and a tiny dog where I am eating mostly bread.

 

Ketchup, mustard, relish works for me.

Whistler golf club is up there with best hot dog I’ve ever had. Only thing that comes close is a bacon wrapped hot dog I had at a baseball game a few years back.

Gotta say I was expecting to see a different OP when I saw the title.  And maybe I am daft(my wife says that at least twice a week), but how on earth can hot dogs be political?

 

Like smashdn says, if it's hot dogs I'm not being too picky.  The places I wouldn't order a hot dog from give off plenty of signs that I wouldn't want to order anything that does come prepackaged,

As a proud independent I call them hot dogs sometimes. Weiners others, red hots on occasion...and when it suits me or the situation- tube steaks.

To the op question. Been racking my brain. I have distinct memories of a ridiculously good dog at the turn. Total standout from anything I’ve ever had at a golf course. May have been The Farms, but I just can’t remember. So, no help here.

In the off season Highlands Reserve near  Orlando gave a free hot dog with a round of golf. Those were pretty good.

Funny, but I came from a "Golf" forum where politics got into just about every conversation.

If you live in an area of the US with substantial German influence, "franks" are something different than a hot dog.  My grandfather ate some sort of sausage like item in a red casing that was rather plump and much more round in relation to length than a hot dog.

"Chiens Chauds" is the proper translation.  French is not a direct translation.

Only in Quebec. In France I think they are Le Hot Dog.

Story I heard(keeping in mind that this and a dollar still won't buy you starbucks), that the french originally called the "audoges"  (O-duh-je), but the English folk couldn't pronounce it so hot dog came about.

 

There could be truth to that, it could be an urban legend.  I just know I heard that back in the day.

Though a week ago a group of us were playing RTJ Trail - Capital Hill and between rounds we all grabbed a hot dog. All of us commented it was one of the best we have had.   It was surprisingly good, but it also could have been we were starving 🤣
