Åberg, Sargeant, and Dunlop all on the Tour together not too far in the future is going to be sick nasty. Ridiculous talent spilling out of the college ranks right now. Add that to Theegala, Bhatia, and the other young faves doing well already and golf is looking great for some time to come. 

 

Have to wonder what he'll decide about going pro. As low as he can go and with what he's already done is there much for him at the college level other than helping his team to championships?

I have to think he goes pro right away, right?   Winning in January, basically gives him full status for 3 years.   How can he turn that down?   

Probably other option would be to finish out the season and turn pro in the spring, but that would mean playing the Masters as an amateur probably?

Future is bright also Tom Kim, Ryo Hisatsune, Hojgaard twins, Kevin Yu, MW Lee, Thorbjonsen (finished T11 in Dubai) and ofc Hovland, who is the sams age as Theegala

No telling yet, but that is a good point about being able to play the Majors as an amateur. He might want to claim the medals that go along with low Am at all those events. Not sure how he'll view that considering how well he's playing, certainly above and beyond anyone else he'd be up against in that category. 

 

Hard to turn the possible checks down as well, but with NIL in action it's not like he's doing badly and if he takes the PGAU route he gets guaranteed expense funds as a rookie. Still, even bigger guaranteed sponsor dollars if he joins the big show now.

He can play in Master's, US Open, and (British) Open as an amatuer. If he turns pro, he will have to drop the (British) Open, but will gain the PGA Championship.

 

But the BIG $$$ draw is his exemption for the $ignature events in 2024. And (please don't block/delete/ban me)...a guy who was the last am to win may be calling with a completely separate offer to join a completely separate golf tour.

Yeah I'm not sure if he has anything left to prove on the am level honestly.  Unless he wants to take a run at low am medals at the majors, he'd miss out on The (British) Open but add the PGA.  He'd be throwing away a lot of $$ you'd think at this point to not immediately go pro, take his exemptions and sponsorships and hopefully string a few good finishes/wins when he's this hot.

Same here. Lions/Bucs on the TV, golf on the tablet until game finished, then golf on the TV. And it brought me back to watching Phil win when I was a wee bit lad and how he inspired me as a lefty to play. At the time my parents insisted I play righty because they didn't want to buy lefty clubs. But that next Xmas I got my own new set of lefty gear that may not have happened if I didn't insist on quiting if I had to play righty, and if Phil didn't win to show lefties exist

 

Memories...all good despite the occassional bad one. 

 

 

EDIT: But the most hillarious thing is the Phil isn't even a legit lefty. He's righthanded but plays golf left

He has to go pro. Having a two year exemption is just an opportunity of a lifetime that you cannot pass up.

He could try and play some tournaments and crack the top 50 to get an exemption to the Open - not sure how reasonable that is. He could also always do open qualifiers.
