Denali Black really is a great and severely underrated shaft.  It's almost too bad so many people associate it with a stock Callaway driver before it ever had its time in the sun, like it's inferior or something.  People will be hesitant to even give it a chance thinking it's a "made for" piece of junk.   Feel and performance-wise, it's so similar to a Ventus Black, most people would be surprised if they gave it a chance.  In my Smoke TD the Denali outperformed almost every shaft I owned.    

 

I ordered my Max TD with a Denali Blue simply because I get along with blue profiles better and wanted to try it out knowing I wouldn't be gaming any of the other stock offerings anyway.  When I ordered my original smokes, the blues were backordered for months and I didn't want to wait around for the heads.  I doubt Denali Blue will kick anything out of my bag, but it will be fun to give it a whirl.

what about the tsr2 do you love? And what was better. I get along really well with the tsr2 when I can pull launch and spin down with the right shaft

The consistent all around performance is what make’s the TSR2 so good. If I HAD to game it for the next 3 seasons I would have no problem doing that. But, I love new stuff. As the chase is sometimes better than the catch. 🍻🏌️‍♂️

I haven’t, and I’m actually kind of irritated on the lack of communication. It’s like it hits a black hole once we placed the order and just hopefully pops up at some point. I’ll give it a week before I call for an update.

My current setup is TD 10.5* with TR Blue Ventus. It gives me the perfect launch angle.

 

I tried TD Max 10.5* with the same shaft but the launch angle is too high even adjusting loft down by 1. 
 

Do you think I should get TD Max 9* and pair with TR Blue or stick with TD Max 10.5* but pair with Ventus Black?

 

I do like the forgiveness from TD Max but the distance seems shorter than TD.

I'd say stick with the TD since it gives you optimal launch unless you tend to be inconsistent ball striking wise with driver.  I've tested the TD MAX extensively earlier this year and still have my TD and will keep it.  Well, until next year when the new drivers are released, LOL.  Who knows, I may keep the TD for awhile.........

I called them on Friday because I ordered an 8.5 and 10.5 from them on Wednesday.  I wasn’t so much asking where my drivers were at only two days after ordering them, but I was worried they might not be fulfilled after seeing the out of stocks at other places.  From what they told me they still haven’t hit their allotted amount yet, so they still have some in stock, but the orders are going to take a little longer then the general ones purchased from callaway and other retailers because they’re being built by Callaway’s tour department.  The earlier you pre ordered the earlier they’ll start trickling out, but he said it could be two-three weeks.

I still have friends in low places, I was to get 10.5 TD Max from local GG. Also was able to trade two items in. Unfortunately I not get to hit it until Wednesday or Thursday.

Hit mine for the first time at the range today and initial impressions are great. Really good driver head.

Played two rounds with my 9* turned down to 8* but not with my shaft-of-choice. 

 

Head is super forgiving for me but not as long as the Qi10 LS. Definitely launches higher & spins more but not as much as the standard heads. 

 

I'll have to try putting a Ventus TR Black in it to see if that knocks a little height and spin off it to gain a few yards. 

 

In end the I'll have to decide between distance and accuracy (I know what I should choose, hah).

Well. Dag gone. Just checked our dealer portal and the 10.5 i ordered on Friday AM that originally showed a 6/11 ship date now shows a 8/30 similar to the 8/24 the 9.0 showed when ordered the day before.  
 

Maybe I’ll try a couple local stores PGA SS, GG and 2nd Swing

💎💎💎 max driver so much.. I went on a trade binge. And got a 3HL and 7w- AI smoke max- (Denali black 70&  my plus 4 velvet grips on both) - for what will end up being $106 out of pocket. With dust collectors I know I will never game again as trade. 
eBay gets 14% now a-days so nah to that. Let’s trade em!! 😂🍻

First round out with mine today. Coming from a 10.5 TD to the 10.5 TD Max. I strained a lat and tweaked an intercostal a few weeks ago so was swinging about 10-12mph slower than usual. Not sure if the cautious swing or the head but the driver was pretty automatic. Only lost one way to the right and it was on 18 when I was feeling it in my back a bit. Safe to say it’ll stay in the bag. Love the more neutral set up, shots were definitely straighter/had much less of a pronounced fade.

Do you feel that it’s sets up more neutral? I have a difficult time getting my TD to set up in a way that looks neutral to my eye. I’m more interested in how it looks at address and being comfortable/confident with what I’m looking at.

Sharpie dot wherever you want high on the face, you can see it at address. I used a white paint pen dot last year on the face of my Paradym TD where I wanted to set up. This year the Smoke is naked.

It sets up more towards neutral but still slightly open. It looks like they took the TD head, scaled it up to 460cc, and closed the face 1-2°
