Absolutely. Quoted text to the extreme is the single worst trend on message boards. There's a college football forum on Rivals that has been absolutely ruined by that tendency. You have to scroll 3 feet before encountering the addition. The vast majority of posters there are lazy young fans who can't take the time to edit the quoted text to the section they are responding to, so everything goes, even if it sources from days earlier and is completely irrelevant to the topic.

This site actually isn't too bad in that regard. The best forum I've ever participated in is a political forum that doesn't allow quoted text. It's not missed and nobody ever mentions the lack of ability to do it.

Most, if not all, message board software can be set to allow a maximum number of nested quotes and/or total quotes in a single post. If it has become a problem, not sure why the admins on the site wouldn't set some limits.

The best proof that there are too many morons at golf tournaments is what happened numerous times at this PGA. Just now, as Tiger was hitting his second shot on 18 in the final round, they were cheering and hollering right after the ball left the clubface, but the shot was pulled about 40 yards to the left. The same happened, when Mickelson tried his stupid recovery shot in round two and hit the tree 15 yards in front of him. From the crowds reaction you would have thought that he had hit it on the green. Those people know nothing about golf, they just want to be heard and gain attention.
