As others have mentioned, create a new volunteer position that spots and boots these morons! The revenue that the new position generates (volunteers at tournaments pay around $40 for the privilege of working the event, they also receive the shirt they must wear, a hat, and a few other things) would likely offset the amount "lost" once the morons stop coming to events.

I wouldn't worry about lost revenue. These are just a few bad apples ruining it for everyone else. Besides, I can't imagine anyone saying to themselves "Well if I can't scream stupid stuff after shots, then I'm not going to the tournament." It's just one of those actions that people take simply because there are currently no consequences. Treat them like the children they are - with discipline. If the Tour starts enforcing the rule, people will comply ... even the d-bags. I guarantee it.

The PGA was horrible to watch. It is now out of control officially.i think the players are now onto it. The Furyk incident was bad. The only ones who can really get the ball rolling on getting this under control is the players. I think it is starting. I am waiting for some goof to be so out of it that he yells on a player's practice swing....
It's because of New York City people I think. I think they should not award any more tournaments to that state.
Please don't lump us upstate NY'ers in with them. We are at different ends of the state. Much, much different up here than down there.

It's not a NY state thing either. It is a golf issue. Happens at most tournaments. It needs to stop.

I'm sure they can have volunteers who stand at tee boxes (volunteers you don't have to pay) call them security and when they identify someone doing it and they are walked off the property it will tone down the morons yelling things. It needs to be addressed.
Yes, we eat our own young down here. Bones and all.

Actually from the 'burbs of NYC myself before moving to the city but to people way upstate, they still thought we were city slickers.

Recall driving to visit friends up at one of the SUNYs upstate and the guy in the gas station asked us if were going to

"take someone out"

I don't think geography is the issue, idiots can be found universally and mixed with beer, there you go. Seems to be a real push from different sides to resolve it, that's good.

Why are people so uptight? This is why people hate golf and give it a bad name. Get off your high horses and take it for the entertainment it is. If someone wants to pay $50-100 and yell, have at it. I would never yell but I think some of the people that yell stuff are funny.

Actually this past weekend's knuckle draggers got what they want- attention. PGA golfers, media, and sports radio shows are shining a light on this problem.

It was discussed on Colin Cowherd's show, as well as SVP.

When no-talent attention seekers get publicly shamed, they will run and hide.

Also- I'd love to be a fly on the wall in Billy Payne's office. They'll have a one strike and your out policy.

Rochester is 400 miles away from NYC, holmes. Between paying $1600 to live in a broom closet, taxes, tolls, and higher cost of living, they probably couldn't afford the trek upstate. I was there on Tuesday and Saturday, and there's more of those people wearing those green "Mobile Device Policy Enforcement" vests than there are security, police, and tournament staff combined it seems. Like a prior poster said, these "enforcers" have no problems hassling you for taking a silent photo of players walking to their ball. Have them enforce the yelling. Or have Gary Woodland tee up the offenders' nutsacks and have a rip. That should stop them.

lots of recommendations and suggestions on how to stop the yelling from volunteers kicking people out to warnings to crowd policing themselves...

problem is these suggestions don't seem to matter as i've yet to hear anyone from the PGA actually respond to the yelling or even acknowledge that this has become a problem that is even on their radar. everyone from fans, players, and media seems to be heavily against the yelling while the one group that actually has the ability to put an end to this hasn't even commented on the issue. doesn't give me much confidence that this will be stopped anytime soon.

i do think that more people are becoming aware of the yelling and with the many in the media making their opinions known about how annoying it is, i'm curious to see what happens in next few weeks of tournaments and see if the db's get the hint that they aren't funny

My fellow TW fan and I were just sharing a moment crying together about our idols fantastic showing, he was up at the tourney for a day and we discussed the baba looey trend and he said,

He followed TW on 4 holes and did not hear a single baba looey.

So, enough of this

Tiger fans are behind it all crap. On Sunday, with TW long gone, it was the looniest as far as what I saw on TV.

I am actually surprised that no one has gotten popped just as a reaction to yelling in someones ear.

I'm from Rochester, and I was there. Not once did I yell anything, because I have respect for the game and its players. But it shines a bad light on what is otherwise a great golfing city.

It starts with the PGA Tour (or other governing bodies such as the PGA of America or USGA) stating this type of behavior will not be tolerated and violators will be removed. It's not much different than throwing people out for taking photos during tournament rounds. Thankfully, the idiots went so far over the line something might actually happen this time.

BTW - there were times that so many people were shouting non-sensical crap that I couldn't even make out what they were shouting. That was nice when it happened. Of course no shouting at all would be best.

For most of the shouts I heard, I wasn't standing anywhere near the source. The good news is that most of the people around me reacted with general "what a bunch of morons, why aren't they throwing them out?" comments. So as with most things like this, it's a few bad apples that give everyone else a bad name.

The only time I really felt unsafe in my visits to the US was when I lost my way on rural roads in upstate New York and saw locals peeking suspiciously through their curtains at the car with Pennsylvania license plates. One even threw a stone.
Come to think of it, not totally true. I was also afraid when I had to face three 6+ feet tall heavily tattooed Tonto Apache women who were running the gas station at Mazatzal Hotel&Casino just outside of Payson, Arizona, because my credit card did not work at the pump.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

An all-time low this week. I switched off.

Most Americans on here are absolutely fine, as has been pretty much every American I have ever met (with the exception of a couple of ridiculously stupid Texans)... So why does golf in the US act as some sort of mecca to the moronic, 40 year old virgin demographic of US society?

Have you seen the 40 Year Old Virgin? That demographic would be the exact opposite of the idiots that yell. I could see the screaming morons having the Hangover or Transformers as their favorite movies.

through their curtains at the car with Pennsylvania license plates. They probably thought your were an Eagles fan or were from Philly. I would throw stones too.

This has become a joke and the PGA/USGA need to do something. It is like wrestling with the WWF/WWE. Start ejecting these morons. On the tickets and at the gate - tell them they can be ejected for yelling and screaming. Put em in a (moron) database because they spy on everything else now anyway.

It is getting to the point that the only thing worth watching is European Tour events because the people are not screaming abuse all day long.

Furyk was right. He is a good guy. Phil also called out some guy this year and was pretty pis*ed off about it. Good for both of them.
