KBS C-Taper Bent tips

Just pulled a set of c-tapers and it seems like almost every tip is bent a little bit. One worse than the others. Has anybody had this issue? These shafts are close to 4 years old.

I've heard the stories on the C-tapers bending. I owned 130x for a few years and didn't notice anything. I also read on here that it was limited to the lites and the 120s

I bought a set of used 714 CBs at Golfsmith a couple of years ago with c-tapers in them. The 4,5 and 7 we're all bent. Of course, I'd only hit the 6 and the 8 in the store.

5 years ago I had this happen with 2 sets of KBS Tours and never returned to KBS.

There is about half dozen different threads about C-Taper shafts bending at the tip.

Another 'affirmative' from me. Several bent shafts.

Sorry to bump this, but is this problem limited to C-Taper or are all KBS prone to bending? About to do a fitting and tempted to just avoid KBS shafts based on some of these bent tip posts.

I believe it is just the C-Tapers. KBS is good about replacing them though - just give 'em a call.

From what I have read in other threads on this subject, the problem is not just limited to the original KBS C-Taper shaft.

And back on original post, I've only had KBS shafts for the last 10 years or so, KBS Tour/KBS C-Taper/KBS Tour-V, and have had no bending issues. (I don't swing as hard as many guys on here, so maybe that's part of the reason why I haven't)?

Have read several comments of Tour-V with bent tips.

As mentioned, KBS will replace if you contact them.

Sadly I've had need to read through all these archived stories, my backup set of MP54s with KBS Tours (less than 10 rounds played) has developed an issue which I didn't believe till I pulled the 7i.......really gutted.

Does anyone know if KBS are still resolving these issues and if anyone in Europe has been through the dialogue with them. I'm thinking that with a set of Mizzys purchased in 2014 im going to get left high and dry here.

When my ctapers were bent they didn't ask how old they were, just sent replacements. Replacements are 2 years old and I'm purposely ignoring them, blissful ignorance. Doesn't hurt to ask, but being in Europe certainly complicates things.

I emailed KBS about replacement shaft labels, they were really helpful and said then send some. I just assumed I was dealing with someone in Europe as I gave my location from the outset.

Labels arrived really quickly, sent from the US. So they have decent global customer service IMO.

Unfortunately yes. Very much so. I can't believe they can't fix it from an engineering standpoint.

I pulled my tour V 120x's this spring after 7 months to check them. 7 and pitch, my two most used clubs, were bent. CS Rep was very polite about it and sent me a new set, but it just shouldn't still be happening. At this point it's just weird that they can't do anything about it.

I will say that I am in ohio and hit off mats in the winter and I am very steep, so if anyone is going to bend them it's me, but Nippon and DG's don't have this issue.

I have owned Tour's 130X, C-Taper 125 S+ and now $-Taper 130X and never had an issue. With that being said I know they used to have issues and if the irons were 4 years old this could have been in those older batches, just because the irons are 4 years old the shafts could be much older.

Anyways I hope you can get it all figured out

I've been contacted by KBS after raising a ticket and have been asked for supporting evidence (pics) to prove the tip failure.

Not fully resolved yet but I've made some progress and they are indicating that a warranty replacement is possible. My main concern is that the whole set could be flawed.

My OCD will be working over time on this.

Given i have the 120s I'm now paranoid... Is there anyway to tell if they are bent by a change in performance or feel?

They don't feel any different. Your lofts change. Check your lofts and see if they have migrated more than a degree.

For my 7i the lie angle and offset were all screwed up..... That's what triggered it for me.

I don't think they deal with single irons, but full sets. I was sent a full set.

Performance didn't change. I had some that you could see looking down on them. Others had a slight banana like bend to them between the grip and clubhead.

I bought some 130x's off the bst a while ago and a couple of them were bent. Luckily KBS replaced them for free. It's a shame as these are my favorite shaft

I guess the dilemma is, stick with a new set of KBS Tours (if replaced under warranty) or abandon a shaft that this could happen to? I've never had this happen to any other steel shaft. The cost of making up a new set, ferrules and grips etc, isn't insignificant.

Heard back from KBS this evening. They're having a UK distributor mail me out a new set of shafts. Tip bending was as bad in the other mid irons also. Just need to re-spec the set now and shell out for grips and ferrules. Overall excellent customer experience.
