Cobra SpeedZone irons (in-hand pictures)

Gesh these seem chunky. Not for me HOWEVER I think they will be a great iron for someone wanting that high launch, forgiving, nice modern tech iron set

Those are utterly GHASTLY. That top line... WHOOF. Honestly, we're talking VAS-level hideousness. Bravo Cobra, bravo.

Where all the world is trying to hide the topline, they are magnifying it. Not a fan, but respect for the courage

I know Cobra is Cobra and theyre kinda taking Nike's 'loud' spot in the equipment world but this is a little too much...and in the valley of cheap.

Also 'SZ' was a terrible acronym to hijack for their MAIN PIECE OF TECH in their new launch. Dont they do any market research? Callaway has been using 'Sub Zero' for years now and in the equipment world of golf thats what people think of right now.

If I'm looking at Cobra irons next year I think I'll take a look at the new Forged Tec irons instead of these.

And the winner and still champion .... the Cobra F8! Last one before Cobra started adding tailgates to their irons. They should have named this one F-150.

Guys, this iron is not for you but it is for choppers who struggle to get the ball in the air. For many high handicappers, this appearance instills confidence. It is similar to the F9 but with a deeper cavity. I sell tons of Cobra irons and this one will sell.

Hack here that's been with the one length since the F7. Each iteration has been a HUGE jump from year to year. I'm curious if this will be another huge jump that i'll move forward with. Been edging down to the mid to low 90s with the f9 after shooting 100s at the start of the season.

Not sure if I'll stick with the f9, upgrade, or maybe test the waters in variable length again. I'm a new golfer that played 3-4 years before switching to one length, and now have played 3 seasons with one length. I'm a little scared about a transition back to variable length. :D

King Size looks pretty terrible, the F9s looked pretty good despite being chunky. That topline, yikes.

I can deal with the hideous topline if it allows me to get a 4 and 5 iron in the air. I can hit towering shots with a 7 and 6, but when I hit a 5 iron it goes the same distance as a 6 with 0 height. Not sure it was needed in the 6 and 7 though. Carbon fiber is in 4-7 I saw.

i dont know fellas. that 4 iron is going to have a crazy low loft and be my next Fowler style driving iron.

Exactly. I need every bit of help i can get out of a 4 and 5 iron. I think they just extended it to the 7 iron so they could show off their blingy new tech on more clubs than just those 2. But I'm sure there are some older golfers that could use more height out of there 6 and 7 as well.

So Cobra used to have a Cobra SZ set of irons long ago but they are copying from Callaway. Interesting.

I hit the Speedzone iron yesterday. At address you really do not notice the carbon slot in the top line after 2-3 shots. Distance was similar to my Ping i25s, the sound more muted, and the spin rate was 5000-5200 with the seven iron. Carry of 152 -155 which is fine for this 72 year old. Launch angle was consistently 17-5 -19*.

The topline CF looks tacky. I am still a huge fan of the new SZ driver though.

When will these irons be released by?

We'll probably see them released after the PGA Show.
