Why ship usps and not use priority?

Simple thread....... Simple question.

Why would a member ship a driver to another member one state away thru usps and not use priority when the difference in price is only a couple dollars and it take a couple more days.

Maybe it is just me..........I hope this is in the right forum. If not, my apologies.

You are probably right......I was thinking more along the lines of, to make sure the buyer would never by from you again.

lol.. Maybe. When I buy something on Ebay for example, the shipping service the seller uses plays a role in my decision whether or not to buy from them. I prefer a seller who uses UPS or FedEx since I can easily elect to have the package held for me to pick up instead of sitting on my porch for any length of time. USPS website makes it very difficult to take advantage of that option. Hope your driver at least arrived safely.

That sounds nuts to me. The best reason to ship USPS is Priority. It wouldn't even occur to me to not use Priority; do you even get a tracking number w/o Priority?

I would never ship USPS without using Priority and honestly now I ship mainly by FedEx. When I sell a club to someone here, I want it to get there as quickly as possible. Trying to save a couple bucks on shipping just doesn't make any sense to me. Did the seller say how they were going to ship the club?

I just bought some irons on eBay from a seller a little over 3 hours from me. I sent him a message and requested that he send priority or ups/fedex and I would be more than happy to cover the cost. What does he do? Proceeds to send them parcel select. 11 days later and no irons.

I'm not buying anything for the foreseeable future unless I have the option to have produce shipped via UPS or FedEx. I've encountered multiple delays with USPS Priority over the last two months, and I no longer wish to risk extended delays.

i live in CA, 2 weeks ago on the same day i shipped a small package first class to PA and another package to a friend who also lives in CA but 90 miles away Priority envelope, they both got delivered on the same day 3 days later! wtf

The only thing that could be acceptable is shipping something really large (like a staff bag).

Parcel post is terrible. Media mail is somewhat useful.

I've only used USPS retail ground to ship a large golf bag. first class for smaller, cheaper items that are really light. priority mail for single clubs. FedEx for large clubs/iron sets.

Agree 100%. Had a set of shafts sent to me and it took 12 days. I would have paid the difference had I known.

If it's really one state away, its 1 or 2 more days max difference. Typically costs are about the same though, unless its <13oz. Perhaps they told their hotel bell clerk to ship it for them and didn't note to use priority

For the same reason people negotiate and make offers here, to try to save some money. For the record I don't disagree that USPS ground is a bad idea, I'd never ship a club that way. But unless it's been agreed to and the seller is paying for shipping you're at their discretion. I always pay the slight premium for Priority but that doesn't mean everybody has to.

And for the record Priority isn't a guarantee right now either, just had 2 clubs deliver the last 2 days that I shipped out 2.5 weeks ago, basically at Parcel Post speed. I wouldn't be surprised if USPS retail ground is just as far behind.

I have never seen anybody on here negotiate over 2 dollars........i'm sure everyone can survive without my business, but i am now on the record that if i buy a golf club from anyone on this site and they ship usps ground to save 2 dollars, it will be the last purchase i will make from them.

You’re right, most try to negotiate more off... I’ve had people try to negotiate $5 down (most cases more) over a grip they deemed wasn’t to their standards, it happens. My comment wasn’t against you in particular, just in general. Cost savings on one side vs cost savings on the other.

And for the record one of my recent shipments of was from IL to MI, priority, and it will took over 2 weeks instead of 3 days. Things are slow everywhere.

I wouldn't ship anything usps for a while. Their delays are ridiculous. Ordered a shaft from ebay, left Kentucky a week and a half ago, arrived in Kentucky 2 days ago...... I live in California.

If it’s something very small, like just a club head, it can save you a few bucks. You’ll get tracking as well. I sold a hybrid head the other day for $20 used first class and it cost me just under $5 to ship it. Priority was almost $9

You still get tracking just not the $50 insurance that’s included with priority

Item shipped out of Cleveland to my home in Detroit on 5/6. In transit until 5/12 when it arrived at the metro Detroit distribution center, delivered to local post office 5/13, in transit to final destination 5/14, arrived in Cleveland 5/15?! Sheesh, what a mess.

And so are you saying if someone on this site buys a head off of you, you will not use priority to save 4 dollars.......No wonder this site is becoming a grave yard.

Before you get to high up on that pedestal and judge me. Check out my feedback there bud. I guarantee even though that head went first class it still got there within 4-5 days. Matter of fact I shipped that head the very next morning.

$20 was the final sale not $50-$100 little more wiggle room there I wouldn’t mind spending the extra money for priority.

Probably the same people that charge $10 more to ship East/West of the Mississippi.

It amazes me to no end the amount of times people haggle over $5 in my listings. I also only ship Priority, mostly because they will pickup the package at my door. It's convenient and costs ME a little more for that convenience. I've had a few people ship things to me Parcel Select, and it's annoying, takes much longer than Priority (usually), and I'm not sure saving a couple bucks is really worth it for them, but who knows? I chalk it up to them not being aware of the other services USPS offers.... but, I suppose it could be them being really cheap.

Unless shipping is specified.. it is really seller's choice. I agree priority is much better choice for tracking and all. Also keep in mind that for short distance, like within state or next state, you really aren't going to get the item much faster with priority.

I just bought a driver and seller shipped it out on Monday.. from GA to NJ. Expected delivery date was Friday so even Priority isn't doing all that well these days. I first thought it wasn't priority and joked about it's a large box for first class, but turned out it really is priority and it's just taking a lot longer than usual. I was in no rush so I am fine either way.

I sold and shipped a set of irons that were supposed to be delivered last Saturday, Priority.

They are getting delivered today.

Everything is delayed.

I have no problem with the fact that things are slow because of the pandemic....This can be expected......I have a problem with people using usps ground to save 2 or 3 dollars.

I know most on here agree....
