Came here to find out the shaft myself, but I'm 99% sure it's a F9 speedback 4 iron that he's been using as a driving iron.

Was watching the WM open a short while ago & Rickie Teed off #1 with a driving iron according to commentary & they showed a close up of the iron from the back on a slow motion replay & I could clearly see it said F9 on it. Is there an F9 Driving iron on the horizon?

 

It was in his cobra F9 video, pretty sure it's a tour AD F9. He said it's his secret weapon this year as can carry it so far with a penetrating ball flight and the forgiveness factor is there also. Makes you wonder why more don't do this??

Interesting that cobra makes an actual driving iron and he prefers the f9 4 iron. I don't think it could be bent all the way from 4 iron loft to 2 iron loft (probably 4 degrees different) as most say 1 degree max

The stock loft of the f9 4 iron is 19 degrees. Lol.

Always liked that approach. SGI for mashing. Thinking about getting a G700 4i instead of the i500 4 iron, just for big headed mashing sake.

Looked up the specs as someone mentioned above. Stock loft of the f9 4 iron is 19.5 which he just carried 268 yards. His regular 4 iron has a stock loft of 24. That's a bit of a gap for a pro but I'm sure he can lay off the f9 when needed

He has switched golf balls to the TP5X, one that claims a higher initial launch, higher apex and less spin. The stat results for him show that it is working perfectly in each area for him. He thought he was still getting used to it last week. Boom! Looks like he has it dialed in this week. Plus the ball seems to be more willing to tuck itself into the hole more often, although that isn't listed as one of that ball's design benefits. :busted_cop: . I wish it were that easy. I have that new ball along with the brand new Srixon to work with for a couple of weeks but weather has delayed me. In effect I am getting "hungry" for "fowl".

Imagine if he’d holed even half of the putts inside 8 feet he missed yesterday as well. I think there were 5 that you would have expected to see him bury.

I did this but with the 5 iron. One round in at it was by far the worst club in the set. Was striping the 6 and duffing the 5. Go figure!

Yeah I was going to say that driving iron looked like a new F9 with the same shaft that was in his driver (the AD-IZ).

 

How's the offset though? I currently have a Callaway UT which has a super squat blade length but they decided to put a decent amount of offset on it. Not the biggest fan of that.

 

Edit: Also, didn't Jason day briefly do with with an M2 4i?

Edit 2: If Rickie's shaft in this 4i really is the IZ... How they they built it? Use the 8X wood shaft, tip it a bunch and shim it to fit the bore?

Some of us have for quite a while. Back to the legacy black 3 iron cannon I first discovered this with. Had a tour green 105TX hybrid shaft in it and it was almost a 3 wood off the tee.
