I've commented this a few times now - seems like an easy add but not sure if its in the pipeline.

 

We need to be able to filter by most recent update on the classifieds. It allows users with open BTS posts to update for price drops or added items. Current state - I don't go past page 2 or 3 which is maybe...24hours. I would imagine we'd see an uptick in closed posts and less redundancy.

We cannot get some features past validation. The intent is to release the 95% approved this week and we will address the other pieces after initial launch of new theme this week.

 

We will then release static feedback and make improvements frequently and incremental. There is no eta on a new feedback system but that will be worked on next.

I mean this in all sincerity but do you feel like the Vanilla folks were 100% straight up with you in terms of the capabilities of the platform and the support you'd receive? It seems like everything you want to accomplish is the first time Vanilla has done this. I feel bad because I know your intentions were to make something great even better. I can only imagine the frustration you're feeling from both sides.

Not complaining so much as just observing that since the change and the not getting back to the old layout the interaction the way this was set up vs. the old is much more impersonal to me in terms of what you see vs. what you used to see and what goes on with interacting on the forum, etc. with all of that. And we lost some stuff we shouldn't have lost. It really is different in that way. I'm here plenty but not as much and after this long I know it's not just something "new" that has been the issue. Other than photos being easier to integrate into a post, for me, there have been no other real "plusses" to the current experience. Again, just observing. Looking forward to what comes next when it gets here.

Yeah, just trying to lighten up the transition a bit. Have to agree with DavePelz4 (God forbid there are actually 3 more!), wonder if in retrospect Vanilla would have been the first choice.

I don’t remember if the old version had this or not but it would be nice if there were a faster way to get to the first page or a specific page of a mega thread. Currently I’m stuck on the last page of a 150+ page thread and I have to click through all the pages to get to the first which is pretty annoying.

 

Also it would be nice to be able to click on quote and be taken to that post.

For that specific problem, Robert, you should just be able to click on the number 1 to get back to page 1. The arrows move you page by page. It's not like before where there was a single arrow for one page and a double arrow to go back to the beginning. That took me a minute to figure out too.

 

And responding to Hawkeye and Dave, agree that the current user experience (as well as the current moderator experience) is not up to snuff or as good as it was before conversion. But the behind the scenes stuff, particularly stability and security, are lots better.

Completely, agree, a single "arrow" would typically bring you back one page, double arrow is to the beginning or end of the thread. I actually reported this on either the first or second day after conversion so I believe it is still being tracked.

The option @SheriffBooth is referring to is available on the desktop version (or, at least, on a desktop using Chrome) (see below). Maybe it won't be available on the mobile version or it has not yet rolled out to the mobile version?

The same for me. I'd say my visiting of the site is down 80-90% from what it was pre-conversion. The new site and format just doesn't "do it" for me, and again, aside from the picture uploading, nothing seems "better". The only thing keeping me even visiting the site are replies to threads I was previously actively engaged in, and PMs asking for questions or advice. And most of those I try to move off site to ether email or text conversations, so that I don't have to come back here as much.

Figured it out. On mobile you have to be in landscape view to see a fuller page number readout which shows page 1.

 

Still would be nice if there were a “jump to” option to jump to like page 18 or something.

I've asked that question many times but the admin said 'he does not have that issue so he can't answer'. another user pointed out the answer just like many other times I've had issue with mobile browser. (Maybe admin does not test on mobile site?)

Anyways. The answer is to put the phone horizontally and you will see the page #1 button before the left arrow.

Yes, very curious. On my Pixel XL I've got the 1 that allows me to jump to Page 1, even in portrait orientation. Maybe it's the mobile browser? I use Chrome on my PC and the Chrome mobile version on my phone.

Correct. There is no option to go to page 1 or any other page on a Droid.

 

 

I experienced this on my previous phone last week and my new phone I got this week. Both Droids and no option for page 1 or others. Have to thumb through one page at a time.

And just my $0.02 while I'm here. I've been around a while. I've given the new layout a chance and time to adapt and learn. And my usage is EASILY down 75%.

 

 

Here really only for previous conversations and the WTB Forum (and that won't last forever, I just happen to have a couple extra things to sell at the moment, so I watch the WTB to see if anybody is looking for what I have).

I'm all for stability and security so happy to hear that part. Continuing to be optimistic about the future. Pheasant season approaches soon and game farm tune up/continuing ed for the pup late next week so golf in these parts won't be with us much longer. The test for the quality of my experience on here will be post-Xmas dead of winter when I usually couldn't stay off the site to help with cabin fever.

We are pushing the new theme tomorrow or Monday. It won’t be 100% what we wanted but close. There will probably be bugs that will need to be addressed as well. It will be continually upgraded to integrate the features we could not get on this release. No eta on new feedback system. Once on the new theme front end changes will be more noticeable. The new authoring editor will be released as well.
