(UPDATED) ANNOUNCEMENT: New Forum Software and what to expect. Old layout will be back soon.

> I've finally gotten the hang of this new layout - so it makes sense that it is about to change again ha. BST feedback is at the top of my list of wants (for what it is worth). It is like the wild wild west out there right now. I have bought a couple of things recently and my fingers might be permanently crossed now. It would also be great if we could get the historical user likes back (and have that displayed in the user info under each post again). That just made it easy to see what kind of user that poster was (are they a regular contributor, are they a heavy BST poster only, etc.)

I agree!

It amazes me in today's day and age how some clueless people have no idea how difficult computer technology actually is.

Actually, never mind. It doesn't amaze me at all.

The development site is essentially done and we are still going through validation. It won’t be a perfect release but we want to get as much correct on next release. Lots of mobile formatting is being reviewed.

Screenshots of the theme going through validation. It will probably be August to be cleared from dev to staging to production.

There absolutely has to be a darker option for mobile users. Please tell me that’s coming.

Sure, from a web programming perspective, but what about from a business management perspective? The golden rule of doing something like migrating a long standing message board is to manage expectations by under-promising and over-delivering, rather than visa versa. Look back through this thread and count up the number of times something has been promised for a specific time, be it "next week" or "June" or whatever. BST feedback for example--that's been imminent since late April or early May, and it's a key component for a lot of us on here.

IMO it's pretty obvious that whoever is in charge of the web programming did a whole bunch of over-promising and under-delivering, which the site owners/management have passed straight on un-edited to membership, both up front and ongoing. It's unfortunate to compound mistakes like that, and I really hope it doesn't do long-term harm to the site.

No dark in this release. Screenshots show the contrast. It’s muted.

Are "likes" ever going to come back as part of a user's info when they post? A number of likes (old site + new) under the number of user's posts on the left sidebar of any given post would be great. Right now you have to click on someone's profile to view that info, and all the stats from the old site are gone.

In addition to the likes, I also miss having join date and feedback score prominently displayed. Right or wrong, on the old site I could glance at those numbers and make a quick judgement as to what type of user a poster was. Newer member with lots of likes, newer member with very few likes (ie, troll), someone who was here mostly for the BST, someone who had been here forever but doesn't post much, etc. Those stars and badges mean nothing to me, and very little in the way of useful data (ie, numbers).

It's time to recognize that despite their promises, they don't actually have the money or the appropriate skills in place to get it done!

The theme is done and we have been going back and forth in validation of formatting issues. The screenshots are being posted. As soon as it approved through the system it will be released. Might be August but hopefully sooner. Took a lot longer to implement certain details and fix formatting issues.

Anyone who tries to make a point ending with "Dunning-Kruger" always does an excellent job of providing the object lesson for it.

Anyone who works in web programming that thinks they wouldn't be fired for allowing a situation such as the one this board is in the midst of is...well you said it.

If you click on a users name and go to their page it shows their Likes. Not sure if they were migrated over from the old site though.

Likes will be tied to a new point system for new members and bst access. It was not brought over. The new skin has the views you are looking for. The old feedback scores will show but new system is not done yet.
