We won last week. We are on to the final 4 which is played this week.

The SLDR/Rogue combo is still money.. I recently switched from the SLDR 3W to the TS 14˚, much better. More fade biased and still gets up plenty high. I am 10000% getting the SLDR Mini 14˚ and plan on getting out on the course as well as on the Trackman/Flightscope.

I plan on finishing this review up by next week with the final #'s testing and then will add the SLDR Mini later. I don't think I will be writing as many reviews on here after this one, but can't wait to wrap this one up and finally get the CT2.0 and Fourteen driver on the LM.

I'm glad to hear that the SLDR/rogue combo is still killing it. I wish I could get my hands on one to give it a go. It sounds like a pretty amazing shaft combo with the SLDR.

I'm really interested to see how you like the SLDR mini. I'm looking at going with either the 14 or 16*. Just need to figure out which shaft to pair with it. I wish TM offered some more 80g options. What shaft are you gonna play in it?

Thanks for the updates. The SLDR mini looks interesting, but would you use that to replace a FW or driver for tighter/shorter courses?

@ gambit - I would be looking to replace my 3 wood, I'm absolutely striping my driver. I would be looking to gain forgiveness off the tee when trying to hit to specific yardages where a driver would carry/roll too far and get me into trouble. From what I have read, it is also good off the ground, if this is the case.. this thing could be a great fit.

That's what I want to find out, but everything I have read and heard from people who have hit it have said that it is easy to get up off the deck.

Nice! Have you ever tried the 85tx. I was thinking about trying to get my hands on one and giving it a go. Kind of a side note, but how did you get your aldila rogue? Do you know someone at aldila?

Richard sent me his for this review to see how it worked. Unfortunately or fortunately, it has worked so well, I haven't taken it out of the bag since I put it in the 460 head. I'm not sure if it's the shaft or the head or the two combined, but this setup is one of the best I have ever played. I will be interested to see what the final #'s are going to be. Going to need a Red Bull for this Trackman session.. lots of different shafts and heads to hit.

It depends on where I do it. I will for sure have the BBA there, just not sure what custom options. If I can do it at a place that is also a Callaway fitting center that doesn't cost too much for LM time then I will have different shafts. Outdoor LM time is not cheap, unfortunately.

That's awesome. Everything I've read and heard about the rogue is always positive. I wish I could get my hands on one to try. Maybe if they decide to release it to market, I'll get a chance to give one a go then. I can't wait to see your final numbers with everything.

Pure any testing? Also if you do go with the rogue in the 460 what would be your next real world choice considering that may not be possible for everybody even though I know all testing is unique to individual. Going to demo day Thursday to hit 460 and 3w. Thanks for all ya do.

Planning on getting out this week (finally, sorry!) As of this minute, I would probably say the BB-6x in the 460. I'm going to be testing the BB-6x, Speeder 661, Rogue, and probably a few Obans. I also like the BB series in the 3 wood, and the Aldila Tour Green has been very surprising in the 3 wood and hybrid - super smooth and a very nice ball flight.

Haha, thanks man! The Rogue has been rock solid in my SLDR since the day I got it, it has been insanely straight for me on my misses and still long on my good ones. Not sure where my #'s are going to fall with some of the setups I'm going to be testing, but excited to finally see what they do.

Funny you mention wedge craze.. I'm going to try a new 48/54/60 setup from Fourteen that I'm going to get fit for this week, and my Scratch set is getting refinished. Needless to say, my wedges are going to be changing soon, they have cost me a few strokes in tournaments recently which has started the wheels turning.

I just wish they would have a black version as an option. They can still market the red, but the head has such an amazing shape and tech, the black would lure in some of the more serious players to the Nike brand.

I'm going to buy it retail whenever it comes out. I'm going to shaft it with the ATX Green 75 gram, same thing as my current 3W, I will most likely set it up exactly the same way I have my 3W setup. I really can't wait to get it.. this thing has huge let down potential, I haven't been this excited about a 3W in a long time!

Totally agree about the let down potential. All I can think about is how much more consistent I'll be off the tee, then I start thinking hell, I've thought that before LOL. I was going to go 80+ grams like my woods, but since the head is bigger maybe something in the 70s. Thinking of possibly just keeping it old school with original blueboard.

[/quote]I agree 100 percent. I would say I hit the covert on average 10 yards longer and a bit straighter then my 910 but I game the 910 because I truly hate the red. I should take my advice and get the covert painted black.

Okay... FINALLY.. Shootout is booked for this Wednesday!

 

So far:

 

• TM 460 Tour & 430 OTR with Aldila Rogue, ATX Blue, AD BB-6x, Kiyoshi White, Speeder 661

• Fourteen GelongD CT214 with Tour Spec 7.2x

• BBA - for sure the Fubuki X, possibly another shaft

• Ping i25 - stock shaft, possibly another

• Covert 2.0 Tour with Speeder 661

 

Edit.. just a few thoughts on this going into it..

 

Right now the 460/Rogue has just been ridiculously good for me.. long and straight and in tournament conditions. That said, there are a few things that have me curious to see how they end up. One is the Fourteen CT214.. this thing was stupid long but I had trouble keeping it in play at my course which is lined with OB on both sides of almost every hole. Two.. the CT2.0 was also getting out to spots my 460 got to and sometimes further.. will be interested to see what this one does. The Ping and BBA are more of my outliers that would really have to blow the doors off any of these setups for me to pursue further. I don't think the Ping will be a huge factor but the BBA was pretty solid last time I hit it. I'm working on getting a premium shaft setup for both the BBA and Ping to level the playing field a bit.

 

I have two hours set aside.. I will be bringing a few of these :superman2:
